We are going to be discussing the theories about the new horror film Killing Abigail which everyone is talking about which will be airing in October. Just before we welcome our special guests, today on Newcastle High Street we interviewed some of the public to hear their first impressions of the film which aired at North Tyneside Cinema. So as you guys can tell from those positive reviews, it's definitely one to look forward to. So let's get straight in, welcome Ashley. Hi everyone, thanks so much for having me. So tell us a bit about the movie overall, when did you start filming it, how long did it take? Yeah so the movie is a classic horror featuring younger actors and actresses, especially targeting the younger audience where a young girl mysteriously goes missing alongside two others. The planning of the storyline was developed over a long five months of changes but once we stuck on a narrative we began to start casting. This took a long time as we were dedicated to finding relatable characters for the audience who fit within the age demographics. Wow, so there was a lot of time consumed in the planning. So why did you go for the horror genre overall? So we used the horror genre as it is very suspenseful for the audience and it allows an element of mystery all throughout. I think having a thrilling storyline allows audiences to engage better and continue watching without getting bored. Alright, I understand. So we know that you're accompanied by a member of the cast who will give us an insight into the scenes that were filmed. Come on in Ella. Morning everyone, I'm so excited to be here, as are we to have you. So could you let us know what it was like filming this horror film? It was very challenging at times and many mistakes were made with lines and remembering them. But once one scene was filmed everything just seemed to flow. Well that's good. So just back to you Ashley quickly, why would you say you aimed at the age rating that you did? Well after a month's of research we did see a pattern of protagonists being male. So by having a female it is a good impression and role model for the younger girls who are watching. Well it's been a pleasure speaking to you both and I can't wait to see how the movie's turned out. Yeah I've had a great time. For any information and if you do want to find out more you can be sure to find us on Instagram and Facebook under Killing Abigail the Film. Perfect. We'll shortly be back after a break to discuss some upcoming films. Good evening everybody. Today I'm joined with Ella Brydon and Beth Allison to discuss the recent film they are casting, The Tombs. We're going to be running through the background of this film, the production and the editing process. But just before we jump into the discussion let's hear some public opinions on The Tombs. So I hope you guys enjoyed hearing some of the public opinions. So tell me a little bit about this story. Is it a fictional story or is it based on true events? Hello, thanks so much for having me. So yeah, this movie is a fictional inspired by the film Barbarian. We like the idea of a supernatural creature as it builds suspense and thrill for the target audience which is around 15-18 years old. Hoping that we would reach that. We decided to use young teenage girls who are home alone to hit a younger audience who can relate to their feelings and reaction and connect with those target audience on a further level. Okay, so the movie was made with the idea that younger generations, specifically young girls can relate or connect to it. Yeah, as I said the younger generation reacts a different way to a supernatural creature, especially when it's trying to kill them. And they have to fight for their lives which is hard when you're young. I think Beth can agree with me, we enjoyed making this as we personally expressed our feelings and portrayed them into scenes where we filmed as we can relate to a young girls survival instinct. Yeah, I definitely agree with that. We felt that the horror slash thriller genre tends to be targeted at 18 plus and we wanted to create a film which the younger generation can watch and interact with. Okay, that's great. Well, I'm late 20s and I thoroughly enjoyed watching this film. Maybe because I'm a girl but the film was filled with suspense and it constantly had me looking away. Yeah, me as well. Even though we knew the plot during the whole filming process, watching the film for the first time was scary for me as well. Yeah, I bet. Well, it looks like we're running out of time for now. We'll be back shortly after a quick break joined by Elia Ward from the Vogue team to speak on Autumn's Fashion Trends this year. Thank you very much for being on the show. Thank you for having us. The director Ellie Coulson and the writer Ellie Coulson have joined us today and will be letting us in on some of the backstage secrets behind the making of this movie. It took a lot of turns that I wasn't expecting but yeah the age rating I would say is spot on to be fair. It's a really good watch but I would just make sure if you're younger you're watching with a parent whatever but it was a really good watch I really recommend it. The film was really suspenseful I really didn't expect some of the things that are around the corner but it is a really good watch and I do recommend it to anyone wanting to go see it. It was really interesting hearing the guests opinions and how they found the film but now let's talk to the director Ella Brydon. Hi everybody thanks for having me I've been looking forward to coming. Would you tell us a bit about why you thought to make this movie did you think about genres? Of course so we looked closely on the genres and discovered that the younger generation tend to prefer horror movies due to the film and suspense it creates. Meaning this inspired us to create our film Into The Eyes. It is a horror and perfectly targets the younger generation. We thought making the horror genre would make it more relatable for younger people. I agree in this generation I think you tend to see more horror movies being marketed towards the younger generation. Being marketed? You said marketed. You said Mr Weir that film's stuck with you so fast. You're speeding through it like you're trying to get out of it like rushing through it. You said you were going to roll the tape. Yeah roll the fucking tape. Where do we go now? It's horror. It's as it's horror as it was sent in. Do you want to do this or what? I'm getting the video off. Good afternoon everyone. We thought making the genre horror would make it more relatable to younger people. Yeah I agree. In this generation I think you tend to see more horror movies being marketed towards the younger generations as maybe they think it is a route for escape them. What is the age rating for your movie? So we've made the age rating for the movie 15. I'm Ella. That's Ellie. Oh it's too close a name. Sorry. Ella and Ellie. I don't see anything else. I see one line. I've got one line. No, no, no. Good afternoon everyone. Today I'm joined with the director of the new film Into The Eyes that has recently been circulating the media and we want to see what the hype is all about. Meaning that this inspired us to create our film Into The Eyes as it is a horror and it perfectly targets the younger generation. We thought that making the genre horror would make it more relatable for a younger audience. Yeah I totally agree. In this generation I think you tend to see more horror movies being marketed towards the younger generation as they might think of it as like a route for escapism. What is the age rating for your movie? So we've made the movie age 15 plus as it may be quite graphic for any ages below. We set the plot so that it's understandable and we do believe 15 is around the age where it can be understood and our viewers are more likely to feel relatable and able to interact. So was the movie made specifically for younger people to relate to it? I wouldn't say that it was made specifically for that reason however it was a key thought and concept for the making of the film. Ah okay so you tried to be varied with each of us to gain a wider audience? Yeah I guess you could say that. We tried to relate more to the younger audience however also to all ages so that they can relate and watch the film. That sounds great. Well it's been interesting getting to know how you've targeted your audience. We'll now be taking a short break but we'll be joined after by one of the main characters to find out more about what experience it was like shooting this film. Thanks for joining us on the podcast tonight. Thanks for having me. Thanks very much. I thoroughly enjoyed it. You've just been approved for Olivia's Movie. Have I? Yeah!
