Small actions of belief make a difference in a life. By Melvin Williams Dedication This book is dedicated to the millions of people who wake up every morning trying to make a difference in someone's life. Without your commitment to mentorship, none of this would be possible. I am forever grateful for your willingness to give back to our communities. Acknowledgement He who praises another enriches himself far more than he does the one praised. The praise is an investment in happiness. The poorest human being has something to give that their riches could not buy. George Matthew Adams Throughout my life I have been fortunate enough to cross paths with several individuals who have been detrimental to my growth and development. However, each of these mentors has brought something unique to the table, teaching me valuable lessons and helping me uncover my true potential. Therefore, I would not be remissed if I didn't highlight how each mentor affected my life. Dr. David Green played a pivotal role in igniting my passion for writing. He recognized the talent and the potential within me. I hadn't even realized existed. Through his guidance and encouragement, he showed me the power of words and how they can be used to inspire and influence others. Other influential figures in my life was Les Brown, who taught me that it's not over until you win. His own personal journey and experiences resonated deeply with me. And through his words, I learned the importance of embracing who I was and seeing it as an opportunity for growth and self-improvement. Dr. Sarah Noble, a mental health professional specializing in post-traumatic stress disorder PTSD, provided me with invaluable tools to navigate and cope with my own struggles. Her expertise and support helped me understand the effects of trauma and develop healthy coping mechanisms to overcome the challenges I faced. The Baltimore Ravens, an organization that embodies determination and resilience, has also had a significant impact on my life. Seeing the commitment of the individuals involved in this organization has inspired me to persevere through difficult times and never give up on my dreams. My knowledge of discipline stems from the guidance of two prison officers who taught me the value of structure and self-control. Their mentorship helped me develop a strong work ethic and the ability to stay focused and dedicated even in the face of adversity. Aunt Judy, a person who holds a special place in my heart, has shown me the immense power that a single individual can have in someone's life. Her unwavering support and guidance have given me the confidence to believe in myself and pursue my dreams fearlessly. Through the teachings of Ziglar, I have learned the importance of helping others and the impact it can have not only on their lives but also on my own personal growth. His emphasis on kindness and empathy has shaped my perspective on the world and how I strive to make a difference in the lives of others. My mother, with her spirit of determination, has been a constant source of inspiration in my life. Her resilience and perseverance, even in the face of adversity, has taught me the invaluable lessons of never giving up and always pushing forward no matter the circumstances. Coach Marvin Lewis, through his coaching philosophy, has instilled in me the importance of perseverance and resilience. He taught me never to back down and fight for what I believe in, regardless of my obstacles that may come in my way. Jim Rohn's emphasis on goal setting has also significantly shaped my mindset and approach to life. His teachings have shown me the importance of setting clear and achievable goals and taking consistent action towards their attainment. Reflecting on my journey, I can't confidently say that my mentorship has been a driving force behind my transformation. These incredible individuals, with their collective guidance, have helped shape my mindset, enabling me to embrace challenge, face challenges head on, and find the strength within myself to begin anew, regardless of the circumstance. Their wisdom and support have been invaluable, and I am forever grateful for the profound impact they have had on my life.
