Tier 1 RTI services provide support to all students, such as teaching self-regulation strategies. Tier 2 services are more intensive and address specific skill areas through small group instruction. Tier 3 services are for students who haven't received enough support from Tier 1 and Tier 2. These services involve one-on-one intervention and can include individualized modifications, assistive technology, or instruction. Tier 1 RTI services are supports that are given to all students, whether that be the OT instructing the teacher on self-regulation strategies that can be used within the classroom or a school-wide screening. Tier 2 RTI services are a more intensive, specialized instruction where the teacher expresses concern in a specific skill area, and the OT can address that through small group instruction with students, as well as provide the teachers with tips or modifications. The goal of Tier 2 is to support these children while allowing them to stay within the classroom or their least restrictive environment. Tier 3 RTI occurs when both Tier 1 and Tier 2 has not provided the student with enough support to succeed. Tier 3 is a more individualized intervention where the OT pushes into the classroom or pulls the student out to work with them one-on-one. For Tier 3, the student is typically seen for 10 weeks to see if that gap closes, or they can provide individualized modifications, assistive technology, or individualized instruction to help benefit that student.
