RS had a mentor who was a seasoned nurse, which positively impacted her career. She currently works at a podiatrist office where the physician mentors her by involving her in surgeries and treatments. RS believes having a mentor is crucial for professional development and encourages it for everyone. She emphasizes the importance of knowing personal boundaries as a mentor. She wants to guide and support me in my nursing journey and be a professional reference for future opportunities. RS did have a mentor. She had a seasoned nurse of 15 years guide her on her first year as a newly graduated nurse that she was very grateful for. She currently is employed at a podiatrist office, and the physician in that office mentors her every day by allowing her to assist in surgeries and proper treatments for patients with podiatry issues. She stated that having a mentor in her career was very positively impacting on her. It helped her get out of her comfort zone, and she was encouraged by this mentor to continue her pathway on professional development and guide her on her journey as a nurse. She believes that having a mentor is very crucial in your career and should be assisting in professional development. She did mention that you're never too old to have a mentor and that a mentor is responsible for knowing their personal boundaries. Not everyone is destined to be a mentor, so knowing your own personality traits and what to possess as a mentor is important. She wanted me to know that she will always guide me on my journey and be a safe space to communicate any issues or struggles that I'm having in nursing. She wants me to know that she will always encourage me to consider other pathway options and be used as a professional reference in my future endeavors.
