I have a special guest Go ahead and introduce yourself and tell us what you do Hello. Thank you for having me. My name is Lizbeth and I am 24 years old I am in a program that teaches compassion education and violence intervention in this program We have the help of our rescue dogs from the sanctuary to help teach that our Path does not define us and how to overcome bullying That sounds like a really great program So based off what you're doing what you said Is it okay if I can ask you a few questions about bullying and what your program can do? Yes, that's fine So my first question is what do you think is the cause of bullying? I think the cause of bullying is that some kids push aside their personal problems and struggles on to others Instead of facing it themselves. I think that's a good response because I feel the same way Many kids don't do face struggles and not a lot of people think is true and many kids Do push aside their feelings deep down and probably push it among others so they won't face it themselves So for my second question, what do you think we can do to prevent bullying? My answer to that would be as adults to step up for the kids Not everyone has a to-go-to person or someone they can trust Sometimes kids just need an adult to talk to and say what is on their mind. I think that's true too because some kids Hide their feelings like the previous question stated they hide their feelings I need to really trust a lot of people especially because they're kids, you know, they have these things in their minds of monsters and Fantasies dreams all these things and there's not a lot of people they could trust and go to Especially environment where they feel like they're not Better or they feel like they're just being bullied and things like that So for my third question, do you believe the program you're in is helping students? Yes, I do. I don't say yes because I'm an instructor Well, because I see how the students take in all the information and this program has been proven to show that it helps the students test scores to improve So not only does it help them Stick up for themselves for bullying, but it also helps them with their schoolwork and their overall performance in their lives, correct? Okay, great. All right, and my last question for you is what piece of advice can you give to kids who are being bullied and how are they able to overcome it a Small piece of advice that we use for the students from our curriculum that I can say is you have power Practice it wisely if you do this practice will forever Follow you all of your days It will shadow you into the success you deserve and into the terrific human being you can become rise above the madness rise above Anyone who hurts you rise above to your own calling of compassion and success We will show you how dream big Nurture your dreams with your own practice of nurturing those who are otherwise forgotten This will remind you daily that you are somebody Regardless of what anyone else says or does to you. You are somebody Practice being somebody practice kindness practice success in addition. You will win Thank you very much.
