Stereotypes originate from a lack of understanding and unreasonable expectations. They group people together and exaggerate beliefs. This episode explores gender and racial stereotypes in particular. So the first topic is where stereotypes originate from. So before we start, we need you to understand the term stereotype. It was first named by Lippmann in 1922 in order to describe the social group's characteristics. Not only does it does it group people together by unreasonable expectations, it exaggerates those beliefs with a category. People that stereotype don't have enough information on that person and stereotype based on opinion. In this episode, we focus specifically on gender and racial stereotypes.
