Christianity's role in providing guilt-free conscience despite immoral behavior is discussed in this podcast. The Bible, written in the 1st century AD, is the foundation of Christianity. It can be interpreted in various ways, which appeals to Christians as it can be adjusted to suit their beliefs. However, this flexibility makes it seem worthless to the speaker. They acknowledge its value in controlling groups by using specific passages to dictate how people should live to attain heaven. Hi, welcome to CCC's podcast. I'm your host Calyx Carpenter. In today's episode we're going to be discussing Christianity and more specifically Christianity's role in allowing people to remain guilt-free and have a clear conscience all while having ill morals and bad decision-making. Christianity is based upon one thing, the Bible. The Bible was a book written around 1st century AD and consists between 66 or 73 books depending on if you're a Protestant or Catholic. The Bible is written in such a way that it's able to be interpreted in every way imaginable. I believe that's why Christians like it, because of its ability to be molded to fit whatever they believe is important at the time. To them it makes it timeless, to me it makes it useless, because if something can be interpreted in every way possible, how valuable is it? I understand its value in controlling groups per se by talking to a congregation and spitting a single sentence from such a long book and then going on a 30-minute rant about how this passage means that you should live your life a certain way in order to reach heaven. Of course they're going to enjoy it because that's the importance for them is being able to control groups and push the idea that that's how they should live in order to reach heaven.
