Carrie is starting a new podcast called "Carry On with Keri" to talk about mental health issues. She shares her own experiences with depression and anxiety and wants to create a platform for everyday people to share their stories. She emphasizes that she is not an expert but hopes to provide insight and resources for listeners. Carrie is joined by her friend Ting, a trauma-informed yoga teacher, who will be assisting her on the podcast. They aim to have open and honest conversations about mental health and provide support and encouragement to those who may be struggling. The next episode will focus on the healing benefits of trauma-informed yoga. Carrie thanks the listeners and looks forward to continuing the podcast journey. Welcome to Carry On with Keri. This is episode one of my brand new podcast. I am super excited to get going with this. It's something that I've planned to do since before the new year. It's something I talked about but didn't actually get the talking going, so here we go. I'm joined by my friend Ting. She's here to assist me and to kind of support me through this journey to start things off. I guess I want to explain a little bit about myself and why I've decided to do this. I'm a huge mental health advocate. My wellness journey for mental health has started this year. Over the last year, I have suffered with depression and anxiety as far back as I can remember into my teen years is probably when it began. I didn't know how to cope with that anxiety and stress. This last year, I discovered meditation, sobriety. I've been sober for over 18 months. I don't want to make the focus of this show about that, but I do want to make the focus of this show be about the journey of just everyday people that have battled with mental health issues, have battled with any kind of mental illness. It doesn't matter what level of it because we all have something. I believe everybody has a story. The more I open up about what my experiences have been, the more other people have come to me and opened up as well. I think it's just time to start those conversations and from a level of people that are just everyday. Everyday Janes and Joes. Here we go with what I hope to be a really exciting adventure. I hope to talk to a lot of different people. Sometimes we'll keep it light and it might get heavy, but in no means am I an expert. I cannot tell you. I can't advise anybody as to what the right or wrong method is towards your mental health. All I can do is discuss where my journey went and a perspective of the person that I will be speaking to. The resources I will have attached to all of my episodes and different topics that come with it. I hope to have it every Thursday. Thursdays will be my day and a new topic every week. I encourage people to reach out with things that mean something to them as well so that we can touch on everyday things. I am going to introduce my friend Ting. As I said, she was going to be assisting me with this. I just want her to describe a little bit about what her journey is and what this podcast means to her. Hi, my name is Ting. I'm so honored and so excited to be here. My first venture into podcasting. I am a yoga teacher, a trauma-informed yoga teacher, and similar to Carrie, an advocate of health and wellness, holistic wellness, as well as self-love. In this journey, I am hoping I can be of a little assistance to Carrie as she talks to you about this stuff. Yeah, honored to be here and so excited. See you around. That was awesome. Thanks, Ting. We will see you around because this is going to be a regular occurrence and I just love it. It's going to be organic. I don't want it to be like the funny moments. I really hope that everybody is just, you know, real. And that's what I think. I know when Ting and I were discussing a lot of this, we want it to be that way. We want it to be fun and laughter and tears if they come. But I want to hear from people what will make you feel better, not just about what you went through but how you got through it and some tools to bring people forward because that's oftentimes what is lacking, I believe, in mental health, especially for those that are stuck. It's hard to get that next step. It's hard to take that leap, which for a lot of people it is an actual leap. It's not just that first little tiny step. It feels like a leap. And I just want to be here to support, encourage, and add a little bit of insight to something that's been far too long ignored. I know there's a lot of different podcasts and places that you can go to hear about different perspectives, but this is something I, it just means so much to me. It's maybe going to make myself snap out of some stuff. And bring me that leap and bound forward. So next week I'm going to be joined again by Ting. And we will hit on some topics. I believe we'll get into, as Ting mentioned, she is a trauma-informed yoga instructor. And I really want to hear how that has healed her and how you can resource to find someone either locally or, you know, where could you get started with that journey? And the benefits that come with it. I mean, she's just the most amazing woman. And she's got so much insight. And I can't wait to hear more from her. So that'll be for next week. I want to really thank you for listening. It's, yeah, carry on with Carrie. Thank you. And, yeah. Goodbye. For now.
