Dr. Canyon West discusses SCP-009-FR, a herd of deer with anomalous abilities. The deer have nails that can teleport into the bodies of threats, causing damage. Wearing a lead suit prevents this teleportation. The deer have high iron concentration in their blood and can heal wounds by forming new nails. They are potentially immortal but can be killed by lethal injuries. The herd is all female and cannot reproduce. A male introduced to the herd was killed by the females. Dr. West concludes the report. Hello, my name is Dr. Canyon West, and today we'll be looking at item number SCP-009-FR. Threat level, green. Object class, safe. Special containment procedures. Redacted, forest is to remain closed to all non-personnel. The location is enclosed by fences to prevent its access, and indicated on the maps as a military zone. All members besides D-class personnel are prohibited from attempting to approach the entity at a distance of less than 50 meters. The Foundation has decided that it has enough information on SCP-009-FR, therefore testing is prohibited until further notice. It is now forbidden for all staff members to attempt to approach SCP-009-FR at a distance of less than 50 meters. If a staff member gets closer than the minimum distance, security officers shall issue a call to order. If the staff member continues, the use of hypodermic darts is authorized. Description SCP-009-FR is a herd of Caprelius caprelius, commonly called deer, living in redacted forest, France. The herd is composed of seven females. All specimens are designated SCP-009-FR-1. They have normal physical characteristics, except certain parts of their bodies, including but not limited to the head, legs, and tail, which are covered with nails, 2 to 8 cm long, which seem to grow from their epidermis. When specimens feel threatened, some of the nails that cover them disappear and reappear in the body of the individual considered as a threat. Slow motion images have shown that a spatial anomaly of approximately 5 mm in size opens in the center of each of the nails affected, draws them in, closes again, and reopens in the body of the threat, where the nail will materialize instantly, causing sometimes very substantial physical damage. The amount of nails moved is dependent on how threatened the SCP-009-FR-1 feels. The actions considered a threat by the specimens are the same as for a classic herd of Caprelius caprelius, including approaching them at close range. No matter the type of threat, the specimens have always used their anomaly to defend themselves, and have never been observed fleeing. Addendum SCP-009-FR-A It has been discovered that a leaded suit prevents the SCP-009-FR-1 specimens from teleporting nails into the bodies of individuals wearing it. It is therefore useful to retrieve one of the specimens, which had previously been put to sleep using hypodermic darts. The other specimens apparently made no attempt to defend their counterpart, and stayed about ten meters away from the recovery team. Several nails were observed disappearing from several SCP-009-FR-1 specimens, but no injuries were reported by the recovery team. The current location of the teleported nails is unknown. Addendum SCP-009-FR-B Tests on the captured specimen show an extremely high concentration of iron in its blood, in the order of approximately data expunged. When a specimen teleports one of its nails, a mild hemorrhoids is caused. Two to seven minutes after teleportation, a phenomenon is triggered. The blood flowing out of the wound considerably increases its iron concentration, up to a concentration of 100%, while taking the shape of a nail. This process lasts approximately 40 seconds, and ends with the formation of a new nail, replacing the one in the previous place. The same process occurs when a specimen is wounded in a non-lethal manner, healing the bleeding with the formation of a new nail. Addendum SCP-009-FR-C It has been shown that SCP-009-FR-1 specimens do not experience any form of cellular aging. Therefore, they are potentially immortal. However, a lethal injury to a non-anomalous specimen of Caprelius caprelius is also lethal to any SCP-009-FR-1 specimen, as they do not possess unusual resistance. Further investigations were conducted to discover any other specimens of SCP-009-FR-1, but were unsuccessful. The herd is supposedly the only existing one. Since it is entirely composed of females, no new specimens can be born. Specimens of SCP-009-FR-1 are not considered a threat if they are not threatened, so it must remain contained within the redacted forest, and no specimens must be killed. The specimen that was captured was returned to the herd after its testing. Addendum SCP-009-FR-D A non-anomalous male was integrated into the herd in June, to test if procreation was possible. As soon as the male entered its mating season, in July, the specimens, for unknown reasons, considered him a threat, resulting in the male's death. Post-mortem dissection revealed 72 nails from its body. Thank you for listening to my report, and I hope to see you in my office again soon.
