In Gowen's novel "Girl Rising," the struggles of girls without education are portrayed, along with other challenges they face. Similarly, in my book "Light It Up," I discuss police brutality and microaggressions against the black community. Education and police violence have devastating effects on society. Both books emphasize the importance of using one's voice to overcome these challenges. By speaking out and uniting as a community, we can protest against injustice. So, remember, you have the power to make a difference in your life and the world by finding your voice. This is Gowen and Citrus, signing off on the first episode of "Rising Light." Gowen's novel, Girl Rising, tells the struggles of girls lacking education and other stigmas. In my book, Light It Up, covers the topic of police brutality and other microaggressions the black community faces. Having no education and police fatalities can make the world so devastating. The characters in Girl Rising always persevere through their hardships by using the power of their voice. Much like the characters in Light It Up, use their voice and community to protest against unjust system.
