Tav finds an iron flask and opens it, releasing a cambion named Raphael. They discuss Tav's reward for rescuing Raphael, but Raphael leaves when Tav doesn't ask for his assistance. Tav curses at his departure.
O apple of his eye, by a true neutral. CHAPTER VI THE IRON FLASK I Standing in a dank cellar in the middle of two dead brutes and a dead sorcerer, Tav violently shook the peculiar flask and held it up to her ear. Nothing. Not a scream, not a cry, not even a squeak. Surely that meant it was fine to open, so Tav pinched the stopper between her thumb and forefinger and gave it a yank. Pup went the malevolently grinning iron flask.
Vibrant red energy shot forth, and a horned, winged, and very unhappy cambion materialized. What took you, snarled the very unhappy cambion. Corilla's information was only partially correct, Tav said, and it hasn't been that long. Maybe two and a half days? That's for you, little mouse. Tav looked him up and down, and he was no worse for wear, and his irritation was less directed at her than it was for the predicament he found himself in. Why is it that you have that look in your eye, Raphael asked, annoyed.
I'm thinking of my first wish, my reward for rescuing you. He was not amused. Now is not the time to discuss your supposed reward for your antics. Rewards? Tav corrected, continuing to pretend he was a djinn. Three wishes equals three rewards. You will get one, as thanks, and that will be the end of that. Very well. I believe reinforcements are coming. Would you care to assist? Is it your wish that I assist? he inquired with a raised brow.
No? Then I bid thee farewell, Raphael smirked, disappeared with a bow and a burst, and Tav let out a string of curses dedicated in his honor.
