Artificial intelligence (AI) is a part of computer science that focuses on systems predicting output based on input. AI has many applications in industries, personal use, and education. AI is often used without people realizing it, such as with virtual assistants like Siri or Alexa. There are debates about the necessity and ethics of AI, especially in art and job displacement. While AI can be beneficial in education, it should not be relied on for everything. Some companies, like Coca-Cola and Amazon, use AI to enhance customer service and personalize ads. There are differing opinions on AI, with some believing it has the potential to be dangerous if not controlled, and others seeing it as a tool for the future. It should be used selectively, only when necessary. Welcome dear listeners, today we are going to talk about a very trending theme like Artificial Intelligence. I'm Jesús del Campo, I'm here with Charlie Baños and Julio. Artificial Intelligence, everybody today talks about Artificial Intelligence, but no one knows very well what it is, and Charlie is going to tell us what it is. Yes, so Artificial Intelligence means it is a part of computer science which focuses on systems that predict an output given an input. That's basically it, AI is a very general concept of everything, there are many branches of it like machine learning and neural networks. So, let's talk about the appliances, about Artificial Intelligence. The Artificial Intelligence you can use in a lot of applications like industry, in personal use, and you can use it in schools to prepare different subjects. And you can use it to help you with the subjects and themes. Everybody today uses Artificial Intelligence and not everyone knows he or she is using Artificial Intelligence. Because I think everybody of us, nowadays, we are using Google Home or something like that, or Siri, or Alexa in our homes, or here, or maybe today to put an alarm or something like that. And it is also Artificial Intelligence. With that tense, it is very controversial nowadays because a lot of people think we are using it for a lot of tasks that are not necessary. And Charlie maybe can help us telling what is necessary or not, which is the line we have not crossed. Yeah, so there are many applications about Artificial Intelligence. There may be some that are not necessary, like art, because many artists are complaining about Artificial Intelligence in the way that it is robbing them of their job. So there is kind of an Artificial Intelligence ethic there. But there are many things that Artificial Intelligence may shine upon, like education or making workers faster. Do you think we are using it in education nowadays or do you think we have to improve the use of it? I think we do, but not in the intended way. For example, I use it sometimes to study, if I need some information about some exercise, but that is not intended. But I think that this Artificial Intelligence, in education for example, the teachers don't use it and the students use it to many subjects that need help or to do it all. Not really, because we don't have to use it for everything. For example, in our area, computing, programming, things related with computers, it is interesting to use it. Yes, no, it depends. Because in every moment you use it, you are not going to learn nothing about programming. And when you need to use programs, for example, to analyze a code or something like that, and you don't have internet, you are out. So, returning to the topic about jobs being destroyed by Artificial Intelligence, I think it is kind of overrated. Because Artificial Intelligence may create some jobs in the future, using AI as a tool, because it is kind of hard to get them to properly work. Yes, it is going to create new employees, but what do you think about? Because, for example, two years ago, nobody used Artificial Intelligence, but people, for example, for writing an article for the newspaper, they took two hours, three hours. But nowadays they are only using 15 minutes or something like that. All the time they invest in these articles. Nowadays they don't have to do nothing. And then the companies are not going to use a lot of employees for these tasks, because the tasks are going to be very, very fast. Yes, many companies are using Artificial Intelligence. Can you tell about it, Julio? Yes, many companies use it, like Coca-Cola, Amazon, Ford, Starbucks. They use it to do a better service to the customer, for example, personalize ads, using this intelligence to select the public that is going to the ads. All right, so let's talk about our personal beliefs about Artificial Intelligence. What do you think about it, Jesús? I think it could be dangerous if we use it without any control, because we are upgrading it every day, but where is the limit? Where is the limit where the machine is going to know he is a machine and he can do things or not? Where is the line which we don't have to cross? For me, in my mind, I believe AI is a clear way to the future and people who are afraid of it are just clueless, because it is not as scary as you may think. It is actually just statistics for now. In my opinion, you can use it for many things that are useful, but in other cases, people use it for other things that are not necessary to use this AI. Other things is the jobs that change the person to work in this, because they change to AI to work in the other job. So, in conclusion, we have to use it, but not for everything.
