Hello everybody! Welcome to the number one premiere Cardinalin College basketball podcast coming to you live. It is big Ronnie, Ray, Mack, and Boyd do we have a lot to get into. It is the second round coming up of the Ultra 64 tournament and there are Cardinalin teams standing ready to do battle once again. Unfortunately one Cardinalin team met their demise that being New Cardonia State as they fell to the final hurdle but beyond that we still have six Cardinalin teams in the tournament ready to move forward and it is time for them to do battle hoping to move forward to the more prestigious rounds of the tournament the Ultra 64. It is the big dance looking at region one. First off we have the Neco Straddle Naval Academy the fifth seeded team in their division winning 75-58 over the University of Wisdom Wolongmata Bay from Tijuna. What a victory that is. When you look at it it has all the hallmarks of everything that we thought they would have in terms of the Neco Straddle team. They cleaned the glass, they got the boards, they protected the ball, they created and converted those two-point chances, nice and easy buckets. Why make it difficult? It was straightforward for them. They clamped down on that freshman point guard Samuel Torresia. Easy victory for Neco Straddle. Love to see it. They move forward against the 13th seeded Renaldi Naval Academy. Holy hell would you look at that folks we have a context between two real battleships. Neco Straddle versus Renaldi the two Naval Academies going against it. Listen the Val Norton team huge victory for them after they beat Université du Saguenay of Quebec. What a victory 82-66. Easy victory for them. You really have to look forward to center Runar Nervik. The 20-year-old, the junior, damn is he good. 6'7", 219 pounds. A little more undersized for what you would expect from a center but still he has a like a real nice spin move that he does. His ankles are so flexible he just moves smoothly and seamlessly into attacking motion. Really got to watch out for him around the paint, around the hoop, because that's where he does the vast majority of his damage. Gerald Williamson the senior center for Neco Straddle. He's gonna be called upon to play a defensive role primarily. Locked down on the center from the Vanelloran team who's doing so much damage. Really shut them down. Play some tall hands-up defense. Real physical shit. That's what we need to get this victory. So you pull that through. You got to be feeling pretty good. When you look at Rinaldi, sure they're good team. They beat an incredible Quebec team but when you look at the regular season they only won 16 games. Didn't even break 130 points in the plus differential and their points scored. When you add that up against the Neco Straddle Naval Academy, we're talking about a team who won you know quite a few games to the tune of 358 champ excuse me 358 points differential positive. They were the flying draw conference champions. When you add up things on paper, when you add up all that sort of stuff, you really have to give the edge to the Neco Straddle Naval Academy. It should not really be that difficult of a challenge. Moving forward we look at the six-rated Alexandria University coming in off a very narrow victory against the College of Portside of Tijuna. It was a 77-76 point victory. Came down to the last second shot of buzzer beater from sophomore point guard D'Angelo Fox showcasing his incredible athleticism and his ability to set up a play as he was the key passer setting up the assist to himself for the game-winning bucket. An explosive contorting layup effort. Very impressive. The key to victory for Alexandria University, the Crimson Golds, the Swordsmen, will be that winning defense. Again, Tom Parliament. He's been incredible. He's put forward both of his two best feet, even three best feet some people would say, and he's used all the those feet to just shut down attacking motions. Really incredible the way he works. He's got quick feet despite being seven foot one inch. Quick feet, moves around, very agile, and communicates positively and easily with the power forward Troy Vasquez. The two of them really shut down the paint, make it very difficult for opposing players to score easy buckets nearby the basket. So that's going to be something that they will really need to rely on when they're going up again. The 14th seeded, I don't even know how the hell you say this, Universiat Novotelnyansk. Not gonna try that again. But this team, the 14th seed, coming in off an incredible surprise victory over the number three Farrar University of Quebec. Not a great evening for Quebec East schools from Region 1, but you know they made up for it elsewhere. But at least on this occurrence, it will be an interesting game for Alexandria University going up against this this UNK team. Really interesting dynamic. They have two players we really have to look out for. Their captain, point guard, and I am going to screw this up so bad, Przemyslaw Zaskowski. Anyway, the 18 year old, six foot three freshman, already the captain of the black and reds, has put in an incredible display over the course of the regular season. Especially in the game against Farrar University, where they absolutely went off. Not only led their team in points scored, but also led them in assists. Really showcasing their ability as a two-way player. A true point guard who can both facilitate play and also score the basket when needed. It's going to be vital, absolutely vital, for Alexandria University to clamp down on that. DeAngelo Fox has all the athleticism to shut that down. And if he fails, you've got Mack Zollinger, the senior 3&D shooting guard, who is perhaps the best perimeter defender in Cardinal basketball. Just put him on the freshman point guard. Easy as that. Just let him lock down, have his way. At the end of the day, you would really expect Alexandria University to pull through with the victory. Sure, the UNC team showed a lot of heart, a lot of grit to pull off that surprise victory against Farrar University, but that should really be the end of the line. Alexandria University, you are the swordsmen. You are the Crimson Golds. This is your opportunity to live up to your preseason billing as being one of the better schools out of Cardinal. To shut down this effort. To destroy these, you know, destroy the people trying to take the victory from you. Play some damn good basketball and this should be a victory for you. Now we get a chance to look at the next Cardinal in school. It is in the second region. We have the fifth-seeded Costa Alto Military Academy Jets, the Cardinal Air Force Academy, going up against St. Benedict's College of Quebec. What a showdown between two nations whose modern eras really are linked together. Maybe not necessarily Quebec's modern era is as strongly linked to Cardinal as it is vice versa, but the two nations do share an extremely close bond, most notably signified by them signing a mutual defense and aggression pact, meaning that the two nations are quite closely linked militarily, but here they go shooting up against each other. St. Benedict's College, what a team. They have a really run-and-gun offense led by the 2-1-2 that they've got between Presnel Ogulu and Mark Kowalczuk. They have solid outside shooting. This is a team who knows when to kick it out when they have to. Senior point guard Raphael Descartes, he's a great three-point shooter and he can drive into the paint and put up some points too as well. They have solid shooting options on the outside of the bench, so this is a good team. You really have to consider that. They've done very well coming into this game. They did a great job to overcome their opposition. They are coming in off an 81-57 victory over the Hong Sai People's University of Tijuna. Very straightforward victory for them. Not really a whole lot to critique there. Costa Alto, you have to look out for their center senior Kim Yi-Jung. He's the team captain, a Quebec Foundation scholarship recipient. He's an incredible athlete, tall as shit, very powerful, very strong, knows how to maneuver himself across the court on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball, so this is a player that you really have to attack and really have to fundamentally game plan for. Even if you prepare for him very well, you still got the sophomore small forward Presnel Ogulu, the player of the year in second team all-Quebecois. He's an incredible player, somebody very, very solid that, again, if you shut down the center option, well guess what? You still have this guy that you have to look forward to. For Costa Alto, you've got that sophomore point guard Blake D'Augustino. Incredible athlete, like I've said many, many times before, but now to win this game, I think he needs to pull away from that athleticism. Yes, it's very effective. Yes, it is his go-to, but now you're in the game of your life. Put up the three-point shot. Get open first. Don't just jack up three-pointers like some crazy son of a gun. Find an open shot and put it up from three. That is the way to win. Yes, you can pull up crazy dunks. Yes, you can do whatever it is that you do, but the key to victory, put up those three, make them splash. You have very good players around you, okay? Not only do you have Blake D'Augustino, but you also have Gisara Principe, the real caveman style, ooga booga, bang, boom, bah, that sort of style, center, down low. Feed him the rock. Let him throw his elbows around, bruise up some players. Maybe he can pass it, okay, slam dunk it, work the hoop. We would love to see that. If that isn't on, pass it out to senior power forward, Funstrinton Jalapez Jr., the three-point stress forward. Wow, he can hit his threes. He can hit his fadeaways. Really easy work for him. So just work that angle. This is going to be a difficult game. There's no way around it. It's the number four seed versus the number five seed, at least in this terms of this competition. Man, I love Costa Alto, but at this point, I really have to give the advantage to St. Benedict's College of Quebec. Hard for me to see them losing this game. Should be pretty straightforward. Now we roll into the matchup everybody wants to see. LeBlois-Santoro University, the BSU Broncos going up against El Madinon District University of Drockland. Yes, once again, it is the Drockland foes versus LeBlois, excuse me, the Cardinal and protagonists. Here we go. Go, the BSU Broncos rolling in off an 85-59 victory against the Corregana Colegio. Very straightforward victory. Senior small forward Jake Masakano went off for a 37-point victory, making that his both season and career high in points scored. That is exactly the sort of note that you want to set when you're going up a team, any team, honestly, from Drockland, but especially the team known as the El Madinon District University. They're coming off an 85-54 win against the number nine seed in Mathensville Polytechnic Institute of Honoria. What a team. They're pretty damn good. Hate to break it to you BSU fans, this could be tricky. Now it's very interesting to see this team. They are female dominated, which is great. I mean, they're from fucking Drockland, so it doesn't really matter. Let's read it off real quick, shall we? You've got your point guard, Zandra Arnett, 7'9". You've got your shooting guard, Millie Pettigrew, 8'2". You've got the male, small forward Timo Klaassen, 8'7". You've got Beth Palford, Rosatha Martin, she's 8'6". You have the center, Ann Marie George, she's 8'5". What are you supposed to do? What is anyone supposed to do? Seriously, look, I love LeBlanc. They're an incredible team. When you run the numbers, great. When you look at them on the floor, great. When you watch the gameplay, excuse me, the game tape the day after, they look great. There's a reason why they are the second best team in the college basketball tournament. There's a reason why they put up a plus 532 point differential. It's because they're a damn good team. But how the hell do you compete with that level of height? How do you fundamentally compete with that sort of height? I don't think that you do. So look, I, listen, I love LeBlanc. I am a BSU homer, if you want to put it that way. But looking at the height numbers, I mean, Jesus Christ. Yeah, obviously, Almadden District University, congratulations. You are overthrowing LeBlanc Centauri University. You have too much height. Congratulations on the victory. LeBlanc, great year, historic year, both in college football and in college basketball. But once again, just like in college football, you fall short of the marker. You failed. You lose. Great game.
