This information is about teacher rights and the importance of understanding them. There are seven slides that outline these rights, and it is crucial to absorb the key points. It is emphasized that although there are many variables involved, teachers should empower themselves with this knowledge to avoid being caught off guard. Slide 18 asks students to read an article and consider the statement that the school system hires teacher speech rather than regulating it. As teachers, our speech is our main tool for educating students. It is important to think about what personal practices we can implement to ensure that students' rights and responsibilities are respected. The following seven slides outline teacher rights. Each one has salient points that I would encourage you to absorb. All of them, as we have learned, have so many variables that play into the execution, but it is important that we empower ourselves with the knowledge now so we are not caught off guard later. On slide 18, I asked students to read an article contained in the module, and as you do so, I would encourage you to consider this statement. The school system does not regulate teacher speech as much as it hires that speech. As a teacher, your speech is your stock and trade. That is what you have been hired to do, is to educate our learners, right? Your students that you will be responsible for. What personal practices will you put in place to ensure that your students' rights and their responsibilities are observed?
