The speaker has taken various RFLA courses over the past three years, exploring different subjects such as ghost stories and pseudo-archaeology. These classes have allowed them to discover new interests and have taught them skills in close reading. The current course they are taking, Computer Literacy the Fairy Tale, teaches them similar themes of close reading, but with a focus on lateral reading and analyzing the credibility of the material using the CRAP test. Over the past three years, I have taken an RFLA every semester, ranging from studying the concept of a ghost story with Dr. Jamer in my freshman year to studying pseudo-archaeology and science with Dr. Gilmour at the first semester of my junior year. Each of these classes gave me a glimpse into studies I never would have considered and allowed me to explore more interests. This course, Computer Literacy the Fairy Tale, has taught me similar themes of close reading that I use in my English classes. In this class, we do it through lateral reading, and it helps me better analyze the physical piece I am reading and its overall credibility with the CRAP test.
