Menopause is a natural transition in a woman's life. It protects the body from excessive growth hormone, reducing the risk of cancer. Menopause has neurological and physiological effects. To support long-term bone health, adding almonds to the diet is beneficial. Almonds help balance the bone-building process. Eating two or three almonds a day is recommended. There is a funded online course available for ongoing support. It covers various topics like menopause, anxiety, stress, mood, weight loss, and fatigue. Visit www.harmony-within.org for more information. Hello and welcome to tonight's food for thought. This is Elle and I thought we'd talk a little bit about menopause and nutrition. Now menopause is one of those things in our society and culture that tends to be not talked about too much and something we don't hear about in you know mainstream news but it's something that all women will face at some point in their life and turning menopause into something that's actually a transition where we can see that the body is actually responding in a deeply intelligent way and kind of is closing the cycle that we begin when we go through puberty and the body does it mainly to protect itself because when we are in our more fertile years our body is producing a lot of growth hormone. If we keep having growth hormone in the body it signals growth and that can actually increase our chance of having cancers so the body actually closes down this growth signaling when it's no longer needed to give us more protection to maintain our health long term as we move into our older and wiser years. Now one of the things that we need to acknowledge here is that the menopause has neurological effects it changes some of the ways that our brain behaves and it also has some physiological effects. If you would like ongoing support there is a fully funded course beginning in October which you can find the details of on harmonate-within.org but right now let's chat about one small thing you can add to your diet that makes all the difference for your long-term bone health. Your bones are constantly in a state of being built and being broken down and you have bone builders and bone eaters. Now in the 10 years following menopause you have more bone eaters in the body than bone builders which means that the bones reduce in their strength over time and lead to an increased risk of fracture and breaks as we get older. Now there's one simple thing to add to the diet to combat this and it is in fact almonds. Almonds support the body to have more bone builders so that it balances out that structure so even though the bone is being broken down the bone is being really well built again. So how many almonds do you need to have? Two or three a day most days a week and luckily they're delicious. I welcome you to join me in a funded online course beginning at the end of this month. Everything from menopause to anxiety to stress to mood to weight loss to fatigue you name it you'll find something to support your well-being needs. You can get all the details and enrol now on www.harmony-within.org. As always thank you Lynne, thank you ToneFN for having me on the show tonight and I hope you enjoy the rest of the evening.
