Overpopulation is a major problem caused by the extreme population growth in the last five decades. It leads to issues like climate change, pollution, and resource scarcity. Solutions include increasing taxes for littering, promoting sustainable practices, providing sex education, easier access to birth control, and offering free abortions for those who can't afford it. The one-child policy in China was an example of a government intervention to control population growth. We all need to take responsibility and work towards a sustainable future. -------- Hello and welcome to our podcast on overpopulation. I'm Anastasia and today I'm being joined by my friend Ralitsa. Hi there, so today we'll be discussing this major problem that is in the last five decades. Earth has experienced an extreme population boom. This phenomenon is called overpopulation, where the condition is which the amount of humans currently existing on Earth outstrips future resource availability and Earth's carrying capacity. So, overpopulation is a growing concern around the world. With more than 7.8 billion people on the planet, we are using up our natural resources at an unsustainable rate. This has led to issues such as climate change, pollution and food and water scarcity. That's right, overpopulation has a significant impact on the environment and our ability to sustain ourselves. It's important that we take steps to address this issue and ensure a sustainable future. And since we're here to discuss not only the problem itself but and the solutions for it, one of them might be to increase the taxes for throwing trash everywhere else but in a trash can. Because the more people there are in the world, the more the rule breakers will be. And in that way, more people will throw their trash everywhere they want. However, we think that if the taxes for throwing trash everywhere else but in a trash can increase, the pollution will decrease. We can also promote sustainable living practices such as reducing our energy consumption and waste and supporting eco-friendly industries and technologies. The best solution to end overpopulation could be sex education. Kids should be educated about the consequences of things that they will probably do when they grow up. Everyone has to have easy access to this type of education. People shouldn't think that when boys and girls grow up to be men and women, they will know the risks of having sex without protection. In our aspect, it would be better to have a law. For example, if you have a child and that child turns 10, it would be mandatory for you to have the talk with your child to prevent them from doing something that they don't know the risks of. And our last offer is for people to have easier access to birth control. Not a small number of people get raped or get pregnant by mistake. And since you have to be a certain age to get birth control, some kids just have their child. A child with a child sounds hard itself. Also, an abortion should always be a choice. And if the person doesn't have the financial opportunities, it should be provided for free. However, in some countries, there were not exactly the best solutions. For example, the one-child policy was a program in China that permitted most Chinese families to one child each. It was implemented nationwide by the Chinese government in 1980 and it ended in 2016. The policy was enacted to address the growth rate of the country's population, which the government viewed as being too rapid. In conclusion, we are going to say that overpopulation is a really big and serious topic and that there could be a lot of solutions if we really think about it. We all have a responsibility to address the issue of overpopulation and work towards a sustainable future. So, once again, I'm Ralitsa. And I'm Anastasia. And this is our podcast. Thank you for listening and we'll talk to you another time!
