A group of wealthy and powerful individuals in a rural capital of Iowa meet regularly to discuss various topics, including politics and family affairs. One of them, George, has written a new novel about love. His friend Janos teases him about his love life and asks for a sneak peek of the book. George jokes about his past relationships and they both laugh, with Janos expressing his boredom with their usual conversations. Chapter 5, George Kabat On Iowa, K'iche' is the land of kings and wealth. It has been so for literal ages since the Elves of Doha ran the world solely. Possibly the wealthiest and most powerful of Iowans sit amongst another and converse. They are on the highest floor of the tallest building in a rural capital. They have been friends since their early adult years. They usually meet at nightfall. They may discuss matters of politics or family affairs. Any which comes to mind. They sit across from another, sitting, all smiles as a breeze whispers to them. The fellow with the mustache says, George, I hear word of your new novel. Quite the attraction, if all is true. Can I hear a word of it from the source? George, with a smile, says, Ah, a true friend would already have read it. An even truer one would be giving me credit. Nevertheless, Janos, for you, I'll make an exception as he winks toward Janos. The same thing it is always about, true friend. Developing love in the paths of conflict and justice, you know as such. Why, Janos, have you located a queen yet? Janos, same face, says, You should talk. One might think this book of yours hit the soft spot. I mean, does it? George just laughs and says, No, this was curious. Janos laughs and says, Well, what of you, dear friend? George says, I'm not a king. Janos says, Well said, but you have produced hundreds of novels, and all about love, as you say. So why, gander, you had a few wives hidden around here somewhere? George, shaking his head, says, Oh, the one who misbehaves the night. I tell you, hundreds, you say. Seven or eight is more likely. How, though, have you been as recent? I forgot to ask. Janos, smirking hard, says, See, that right there explains this night. The usual when you are hard at another novel. Absolutely bored, my dear friend.
