Hello and welcome to join this chariot for a 5-minute Bible study. This 30th episode on A Step of Faith is titled Lone Visioner. My name is Greg Alabi and I'm inviting you to come let us study the Bible together. When you want to take a step of faith to achieve something significant or start a new project, the natural human mind in its default setting is more often than not going to think negative thoughts. When you want to take a step of faith, you begin to think of fear, doubts, obstacles, the cost, impossibilities, the dangers, the shortcomings, the sustainability and all manner of discouragement may start flooding our minds, questioning and attacking that noble idea. Some showing up as legitimate concerns but not one of such thoughts inspires or tell us how to go about solving the problem or even achieving our goals. Thoughts like what if keeps coming to our mind, fighting that negative idea is bad enough but it's worse still if people who are close to us, people who have direct access and influence over us are the ones in the name of showing concern is killing the spirit or elaborating the fears, the doubts, the obstacles, the cost, the dangers, the impossibilities or even questioning the sustainability of the idea. They tell you things like, maybe you should pray some more, go think about it some more, are you sure? Is this the best time? But here you are, something deep down inside you is clearly telling you what to do and how to go about it, more so you know that you know that this is the time and the hour. From your inside, you hear that voice saying, go for it but the outside world is telling you, hold on, be careful, not now. If you want to take a step of faith to start a new project and you are a lone visionary, what then should you do? Postpone it, cancel it, procrastinate, wait for validation or obey that still small voice within you? Dear friends, you are not alone. Several other great men and women have had similar experiences. Ecclesiastes 11 verse 4 in the New Living Translation says, Farmers who wait for a perfect weather never plant. The Good News Bible puts it this way, If you wait until the wind and the weather are just right, you will never sow anything and never harvest anything. My advice for any third party who truly cares is to encourage and provide solutions to the concerns that they envisage. Tell us how to solve the problems that you see and better still, please volunteer to help resolve the obstacles or the challenges that you have identified. For every new project, we need as many problem solvers so the visionary is not left alone. Now let us learn some valuable lessons from these men in the Bible. First of them would be Noah in Genesis chapter 6 from verse 11 to 22. He built an ark when nobody believed or had ever seen rain fall from the sky before then. Second example is Elijah, 1 Kings chapter 18 verse 41 to 45. Three years of no rain, drought everywhere dried, but Elijah saw abundance of rain coming. No one else saw what he saw. Third example is Elisha, 2 Kings chapter 6. Surrounded by a host of Syrian army, Elisha saw angels ready to defend him and attack the Syrian army, but the servant and the Syrian army did not see what he saw. Fourth example is Jesus himself, Matthew chapter 16 from verse 21 to 23. Peter rebuked and discouraged Jesus because he did not see the purpose of Jesus going to the cross. Fifth example is Stephen, Acts chapter 7 from verse 55 to 60. He saw heaven open. He saw the glory of God and Jesus standing on the right hand of God ready to welcome him. He saw where he was going, but others did not see what he saw. Being a lone visioner is not new. Great ideas and great things have been achieved by men who were lone visioners. If you are sure and you are very sure, then take that step of faith to start that mission. Can I tell you something? Courage is not the absence of obstacles. It is the belief in miracles. Let us pray. Father, thank you for the lessons we are learning. As lone visioners, we pray that you give us men who will encourage, pray for us, support us to achieve our goals. In Jesus name. Amen.
