Little Rex is explaining the concept of recycling and how to do it correctly at home and in school. He mentions that recycling involves taking something old and used and turning it into something new, preventing it from going to the landfill. Only certain items can be recycled at home or school, such as paper, plastic bottles, milk cartons, cardboard, cans, and glass bottles. It's important not to put plastic bags, rocks, bugs, or sticks in the recycling bin as they can damage the machines. For other items like bikes or batteries, there are special recycling centers. Little Rex encourages learning more and finding fun activities about recycling and reminds to teach parents and family to recycle properly. Hi, I'm Little Rex, and I'm here to talk to you about recycling, at home and in school. You might know my dad, he's Foamasaurus Rex, and he loves to recycle, especially foam, he really loves that stuff. But you might be asking, what is recycling? Well, recycling is the process of taking something old and used, and then turning it into something new, stopping it from going to the landfill, something like a bottle or a can. Many things can be recycled, but where you recycle determines how you recycle. Only certain items can be recycled at home or in school, due to how the items are collected. Here in Mecklenburg County, we can only recycle six items at home and school. Let me teach you how to recycle right, it's so easy. You may have a special bin, can, or box to put recyclables in, at home or in school. It's important to remember, you can only toss in these six items, paper, plastic bottles and jugs, milk and juice cartons, cardboard, cans, and lastly, glass bottles and jars. That's it. But please don't toss any plastic bags, rocks, bugs, or sticks into your bin, those hurt our machines and people. If you have something else to recycle, like a bike or a battery, we have special ways to recycle them at one of our special recycling centers. Now you can click here to learn more and find some fun activities about recycling. And don't forget to help teach your parents and family to recycle right. Bye!
