The Daily Devotion for November 14th, 2023 focuses on the importance of thanksgiving in our relationship with God. The scripture readings emphasize the need for gratefulness in various aspects of our lives, including worship, giving, relationships, and spiritual battles. Thankfulness should permeate everything we do because it helps us be aware of God's presence, focus on Jesus, and replace anxiety with peace and joy. Maintaining an attitude of thanksgiving brings purpose and fulfillment to our lives and glorifies God. We are encouraged to ask God to bring blessings to mind so we can express our gratitude to Him. Welcome to Christ Church's Daily Devotion for November 14th, 2023. Today we will be reading from Colossians, chapter 2, verses 6 through 7. So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. Bringing our requests to God through prayer is just one aspect of our communication with Him. Another part of prayer, which is frequently overlooked, is thanksgiving, from Philippians, chapter 4, verse 6. The Father wants His children's lives to be characterized by gratefulness. His Word tells us that an appreciative attitude should be evident in our worship, seen from Psalms, chapter 95, verses 2 through 7. Also, Colossians, chapter 3, verses 16. Giving, seen in 2 Corinthians, chapter 9, verse 12. Relationships, seen in Philippians, chapter 1, verses 1 through 3. And the way we approach spiritual battles, seen in 1 Corinthians, chapter 15, verses 55 through 57. In other words, thankfulness should permeate everything we do, seen from Romans, chapter 14, verse 6. In the scriptures mentioned, the Lord actually mandates our gratitude because He knows how being grateful affects the heart. Expressing thanks to God helps us. Be aware of His presence. Focus on Jesus Christ and diminish our pride. Look for His purpose in challenging situations. Remember His goodness. Depend on Him continually. Replace anxiety with peace and joy. Today's personal worship option. When we maintain an attitude of thanksgiving in both happy and difficult seasons, our life will feel purposeful and meaningful and fulfilling. But more importantly, God will be glorified. Ask Him to bring blessings to mind so you can say, thank you.
