Nothing to say, yet
In today's Daily Devotion, we read from Genesis chapter 12, verses 1-3. God tells Abram to leave his country and promises to make him into a great nation and bless him. God also promises to bless those who bless Abram and curse those who curse him. Through Abram, all peoples on earth will be blessed. This passage marks a significant shift in Scripture and sets the stage for key events in God's plan to save his people. Abraham follows God's call with confidence, trusting in God's promises. We, too, must have faith and trust in God's plan, even though we may not fully understand it. Today's worship option is to thank God for His promises and to trust in Him fully. Welcome to Christ Church's Daily Devotions for October 3rd, 2023. Today we will be reading from Genesis chapter 12, verses 1 through 3. The Lord had said to Abram, Go from your country, your people, and your father's household to the land I will show you. I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you. I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse. And all peoples on earth will be blessed through you. Genesis chapter 12, verses 1 through 3 could be considered a big shift in Scripture. Many key events in God's creating and saving his people start from this passage. Before sending Abraham out on his long journey, God makes him many promises. God tells him to go, and he will guide him, and that he will take care of him. Think of everything Abraham is leaving behind as he follows the uncertainty of God's call. But also remember what Abraham receives as he goes. God promises that Abraham will inherit a great land and create masses of people by becoming the father of a great nation. All peoples will be blessed through him. In time, God made this even clearer by sending his son, Jesus, born as a descendant of Abraham, to be the promised savior of the world. Abraham couldn't have fully understood all the implications of God's promises, but he didn't need to. God just called him to walk forward with confidence, trusting in his word. It is not all that different for us today. Though we have a more complete reveal of God's plan than Abraham did, we do not see all its incredible details. This means that faith is required if we want to share God's great blessings and create that interest of God to others. Today's personal worship option? Lord, thank you for your promises. We don't know all that's ahead of us, but we do know the one who is leading us. Help us to trust in you fully. Amen.
