Before Oscar Hammerstein, Richard Rodgers collaborated with lyricist Lawrence Hart. They wrote the song "My Funny Valentine" for the show Babes in Arms in 1937. The song has become incredibly popular, appearing on over 1,300 albums and being performed by over 600 artists. Stepping back in time a bit, before Oscar Hammerstein, Richard Rodgers had another songwriting partner in the form of lyricist Lawrence Hart. Together, the two wrote My Funny Valentine for the 1937 show Babes in Arms. In the show, it is sung by the character Billy as a reflection on a romance with Val, but the song has appeared on more than 1,300 albums and has been performed by more than 600 artists.
