During the volunteer training, they will cover various topics, including the characteristics of an effective volunteer, who you will be serving, what it's like to be an older adult, the tasks you will be doing, how you can contribute, common activities for friendly visitors and helpers, how you are matched with an older adult, volunteer boundaries, reaching out for support, guidelines for working with older adults, time requirements, and emergency procedures. We will also go over some volunteer training contents. Here are some of the questions that will be answered during this training session. What are the characteristics of an effective volunteer? Who will I serve? What is it like to be an older adult? What will I be doing? How can I contribute? What are some common friendly visitor activities? What are some common friendly helper activities? How am I matched as a friendly visitor with an older adult? How am I matched as a friendly helper with an older adult? What are some good volunteer boundaries? How do I reach out for support if I need it? What are key guidelines for volunteering with older adults? What are my time requirements? And lastly, emergency procedures.
