The schooner " Sylvania " approached by a German sub in 1918 just off the coast o Cape Breton . The crew in this photo rowed back to Cape Breton and 1 hour later that 155 foot schooner was sunk . My granddad ( Robert Devine ) is the second from the right . The little guy in back with the shirt sleeves and cap . The photo was taken in 1917 , mid winter on the deck of the snow covered Sylvania . When I heard this story , I wrote this song . I hope you enjoy . Cheers
