Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the simulation of human intelligence using software coded heuristics. It has a history that dates back to 1952 when the first chess playing program was created. In the 1980s, Japan introduced the first music playing robot. In the 90s, AI made its way into homes with games like Deep Blue and Furby. In the 2000s, we saw the introduction of robots like Kismet, which could recognize and stimulate emotions, and ASIMO, which could walk like a human. This is just a brief overview of AI and its history. Hello and welcome to Group 14 podcast where we will be discussing Artificial Intelligence. My name is Jillian and I am joined with Mark, Navash and Intishar. What is Artificial Intelligence and how did it come to be today? Artificial Intelligence or AI can be defined as a simulation of human intelligence by software coded heuristics. In 1952 the research and development director Christopher Strachey created the first chess playing program. In the 1980s we see the first music playing robot in Japan. The 90s AI makes its way into homes with games like Deep Blue, another chess playing game and Furby, a domestic pet robot. This leads AI into the 2000s and the introduction of Kismet, the first robot that can recognize and stimulate emotions and ASIMO, a robot that is able to walk like a human. That is a very brief explanation of Artificial Intelligence and its history. Next up is Mark.
