Why I believe in God. In my own words, which aren't enough, I try to explain why I believe in God.
The speaker discusses their belief in God and provides various reasons for their belief. They mention their fascination with astronomy and the questions it raises about the universe. They also talk about the complexity of the human body and how it supports their belief in a creator. Additionally, they mention archaeological evidence that aligns with biblical stories and their personal experiences with answered prayers. Hey guys it's me I can't sleep I didn't get that much sleep last night it must be Sunday morning cuz I'm happy and I'm ready to go to my happy place my happy place is church for those who know me um yeah you know I'm a Christian Bible believe in Christian I go to a church that's a Bible preaching they don't preach from any other kind of book straight from the word gonna go there and the Bible it says to bring your gifts to the altar it talks about talents I know in talents they mean they may mean coins and stuff you know first century Middle East for me it's like a talent like what is you know what do you do what what in something like that my talent is I'm a violin player and I love playing and now I got a place to play it in but it's been on my mind to do a bunch of these and I gotta go spiritual because this is me so if you don't like spiritual don't listen to this one hey you're free you're a free person but I'm just going right off the hip right off the cuff it's going to be why I believe in God now my history is I was born in 1964 youngest of seven kids we were devout Catholics every Sunday we're there every holy day of obligation or there and then as the cougette family got older and kids got older we discovered a relationship with Jesus Christ why do I believe first of all we got to go back to the beginning when I was about four or five years old there was the moon landing and I'm watching this on TV and it's like whether you believe it or not I'm thinking oh the moon cool I go outside you know in the evening time and you know I'm looking and there's the moon and I'm wondering what is holding that thing up I mean I jump off the front porch I'm landing on the ground so why is it that I'm not floating up there like that moon and then there's the Sun during the daytime like when's it going to burn out I mean someone can light a match and the thing will go out you can have a lighter and have it going constantly but you'll run out of juice fuel whatever so why ain't that big old ball of flames burning out I don't know why is it on some days that it's you know it's up there and it's hot out and other days it's up there and it's cold out and then astronomy I got really fascinated in astronomy when I was in grade school because we're talking about the planets and there was pictures from telescopes you know of all these and and so I'm just you know wow those things are out there you know those planets are out there and how did they get there and why is it they're all spheres you know why are they why they don't like that and then there was a you know Jupiter is a gas giant you mean isn't there something solid in there I don't know um and then as we got more powerful telescopes you know the Milky Way galaxy as far as I remember it wasn't a sphere or what was it wasn't circular they thought it was like a little wave of stars and then they you know tell us more powerful telescopes like hey that's the galaxy up there so we must be in one similar to that one okay how did it get there how did that galaxy out there get there why ain't it like in a different kind of shape than what it is oh don't know and then more powerful telescopes hey there's more than one galaxy out there and then we sent the Voyager one and two we're going to explore the other planets Mars Jupiter Saturn Uranus Neptune and got nice close looks at them big red spot on Jupiter how'd that get there Saturn you know the rings you know when I was a kid Saturn had three rings and then the Voyager spacecraft went up there like dude there's a huge bunch of rocks going around that thing and and then there's three rings and there's a space in between and it's equidistant all the way around how did it get to be like that and then there's and then we sent up the Hubble Space Telescope and wow um dude what pictures we got from there and now we got the James Webb and like wow wow wow wow wow hey excuse me just for a second can I pause this I think I can am I am I still going okay um so my alarm went off it's time for me to get up and get ready to go to my son's house I'm invited for breakfast blow my nose live yes I am but uh I love my kids they're so cool they're just like their dad they're so cool gosh I hope not because my daughters will look really weird but back to where I was going to like how did all that stuff get up there you know and and they're talking about the universe is expanding into what and then you know they put the Hubble telescope we're gonna aim it between those two stars you know the strongest land-based telescope you know out there and I think it's a Constellation Libra they did there's two stars and there's a space in between we're gonna aim Hubble in between that space right there and I remember clearly because I'm really fascinated with astronomy not astrology astronomy um I remember that in the newspapers and magazines the scientists and astronomers were all geeked they're like you know we're gonna return this bad boy on high it's gonna take a while to get a picture back but we're gonna see the edge of everything the farthest things in the Big Bang and then after that nothing and they get a picture look up the Hubble deep space field because from that little thing it's like it's like holding up a little pin a tip of a safety pin in your hand and extend your arm fullest away from you and look at the very tip that's you know ratio wise what they looked at out in outer space what did they come back with 10,000 more galaxies so like oh um let's aim it somewhere else and they did and well they get 10,000 more galaxies and you turn the James Webb telescope on high and what do you see more and so like how did this all get here and I had astrology magazines and astronomy I'm sorry astronomy magazines and the the biggest smartest people on the planet they figured this universe existed one of two ways one it was always here and two it had a beginning and the first one is impossible nothing just exists it has to start from somewhere and the same magazine they had a picture of a ping pong ball and they said that that was everything in existence you know like one to the power of minus and a bunch of numbers second before the Big Bang and I don't know about you but I'm bigger than a ping pong ball I don't know about you but this earth you know everything around me is bigger than a ping pong ball except for this postage stamp no that's an impossibility it's just how did everything get there and now let's take a look at inner space how about you you got a brain everyone's got a brain and it works and you in very awesome ways and then we have eyes that no camera can reproduce you know no no camera lens can reproduce what your eyes can do you got ears that can hear you got a nose that can smell stuff food lilacs um you know perfume and such you got a mouth that can speak with vocal cords and stuff and we can communicate you've got a heart that pumps blood all over the place you got lungs I can breathe in air you got a stomach that can you know eat and digest food you got you know all these internal organs and the odds of all of these appearing in one place at one time and working functionally is it is scientists say it's impossible that the odds of that happening from a pile of goo through the zoo to you that that's Wow um yeah and another thing is when I forgot my first computer I had a printer had a scanner on it and this thing was telling me that I had like a we'll just say a million different colors I don't know about you but the most colors I had was 64 and put it down there's a box of eight really thick crayons when I was in the first grade eight and there was red and there's orange according to my computer there's like a million different colors between red and orange just different shades if mankind evolved from apes there should be millions of living links but yet they kept searching for a missing link and they found one named Lucy they named it Lucy one time it's short for something scientific and they just took bones and some of these bones was like a mile away from each other they just put it together they got another one it was a tooth and he you know they made a Neanderthal guy out of just a tooth and come to find out that tooth came from a pig um you know science archaeology archaeologists is digging up the Middle East and they found signs that the Israelites the Hebrews were in Egypt and between Egypt and current Israel there there's evidence that they went on that path they've narrowed it down to the path that they went on you go into the dead you go into the sea that they crossed and there's you know evidence of chariots and stuff archaeologists are digging up what is said in the Bible to be true people actually existed events actually happened each major religions got a story about a great flood now I urge you with an open mind check out the movie the case for Christ based on a movie or based on a book by Lee Strobel who's who's an investigative journalist his wife accepted Jesus as a Savior he was a big-time atheist agnostic questioned everything he decided to put his his investigative journalism into it and he's going to prove Jesus wrong and the more he went to go prove the Jesus wrong the more Jesus was proven right and also why do I believe prayer prayed for things and they've come to pet and I've received answered prayers in a way that's that's supposed to be for me and to help me on my journey for me to help others I mean though there was a case of someone at work stepson cancer supposed to be dead within a couple of weeks prayed over that the cancer left for a year and the doctors were dumbfounded and the young man was actually able to leave the hospital and go spend time with his mom and stepdad and and a year later the cancer came back and I talked with the stepdad he says no no no it was beautiful I prayed over my wife who she had a lupus and she got a massive stroke that she eventually took her life I prayed but I gave God a blank check you know heal healer here or in heaven it's okay by me on what I wanted her to live yeah but some people they survive but they're paralyzed on one side why God has a purpose and a plan for everything might not have been good for her she survived that but it'd be good for people around her because bad things happen to good people so that the good people can help other people it would be no use for you if you were having problems on your marriage if I went to go help you if I was never married to begin with you see in the stuff that I went through I can help other people I've been down that path why did I believe because everything else doesn't make sense yeah you may say hey John there's other religions out there like yeah but let's go back to the source check out that movie the case for Christ it can answer it a lot better than me with a lot more bigger words with more syllables but overall it's just faith and someone asked me well what if all this stuff you believe in isn't true I said well then if I die before you you can come to my funeral saying wow he was a nice guy you know always smiling you know silly at times and lifted up people's spirits and you know like that like for them to have a smile on their face brought some to mind and he was helpful and kept his word and everything and then I says to him but what if you're wrong what if you die and you face a God and there's judgment you can just look at God and say hey I didn't believe in you well God will look at you and say I believed in you you're gonna bet your eternity on that if you're right you know if I'm wrong hey I'm gone but I had a very good life here lots of laughter lots of love I got to give of myself to people and if I'm right you got a eternity of regret Jesus described hell more than he did heaven in the Gospels and overall however you can describe hell lake of fire eternal darkness whatever they're just one word regret and you have to live with that for a long long time so anyway it's a little after 710 a.m. I'm going to my son's house for breakfast I'm gonna come home and get ready for church why because it's Sunday and I have gifts I have talents I'm gonna take them there I'm gonna go help some people there so I can better help people somewhere else in conclusion Facebook I got two friends on Facebook I personally know both of them one of them can give you a testimony of how I was over 27 years ago as an alcoholic the other one can tell you how I currently am now and these two know each other but I don't think they talk to each other about me they can give you a before and after and believe me I am much better now I didn't like me then you wouldn't like me then if you think I'm okay now I think I'm okay too anywho I gotta go it's going to take a little bit to get my son's house and I'm hungry that's why I believe I'll probably you know listen to this and think about more stuff I could have said but I gotta go talk to y'all later love yous bye
