The host of WCCU Radio, Macy Kay, talks about her disbelief that it is already February and how fast the semester is going. She mentions that she has not done much in her capstone class and is only one-fourth of the way through another class. She also mentions the upcoming midterms and a Valentine's Day special on the show. Macy then shifts to discussing her interest in conspiracy theories, particularly those popularized by Shane Dawson. She asks her listeners about their own conspiracy theories and shares her thoughts on the theory that the Titanic sinking was intentional. She also mentions the debate about whether both Jack and Rose could have fit on the door in the movie Titanic. Macy encourages listeners to send in their responses and continues playing music on the show. She concludes by jokingly suggesting that Post Malone and Travis Kelce are clones. You're listening to WCCU Radio, Coastal Carolina University's student-run radio station. You guys, you're back on the Antisocial Butterfly for another week with your host, Macy Kay, which is I. I can't believe it's already February. It is so, so, so, so crazy for me because it just feels like the other week we were coming in, trying to start up the semester, and it's just flown by. Even in my capstone class, which is supposed to be your final chapter onto your undergraduate degree, it's like we haven't even done anything so far in that class. The only assignment we've done is an overview, so you know it's really bad when the semester is feeling like it's halfway over, and then you're not even halfway through some of your classes. Another class I just finished the first module for because it's by three or four weeks, and so it's crazy to think that we're like one-fourth the way done. Midterms are coming up. I have a class. It's actually just like a spring one class, and we're almost on finals for that, which is just the equivalent of midterms in general, and so it's just crazy to compare it to that, but you guys, it is beautiful weather out there today. It's kind of like, you know when it's cold and the breeze kind of like almost like burns you? Like there's a term for it, but I can't think of it. It's kind of one of those things, like the wind is the only thing that's cold, but like it's still pretty outside. With that being said, you guys, this episode I'm going to be talking about just life in general. I know I was supposed to bring another guest on, but things didn't quite work out, and that's okay because next week we have the Valentine special of this show coming up, and guys, there is so much I'm doing right now that I cannot wait to tell you guys next week, you know, and whoever I bring on, we're going to be talking all things Valentines, but for now, I thought it would be very cool to kind of sit back, you know, talk about life, and in particular this week, conspiracies, so I was always interested in conspiracy theories. It probably started around the time with Shane Dawson. He made a lot of conspiracy videos. A lot of theories were, you know, I think the most popular one maybe he did was the whole Chuck E. Cheese pizza conspiracy of them recycling and reusing their pizzas to other customers, you know, big things like that. He was, you know, he's had a good public image, you know, or a good image with the public lately for good reasons, but, you know, I feel like everyone was just, he, that was his thing. He could just intrigue us in that, and that was like so cool, but, you know, I learned most of my stuff through that, and so this week's question I asked y'all, what was the big, what were the big conspiracy or like your personal theories or hunches that you just full on believe in, so we're going to be diving into that soon. I'm probably not even going to do that all at the end. I think I have like a good like series of stuff, but before I jump into any conspiracies, just know like I'm not talking bad about anybody I mention, any companies, anything like that. This is just solely for educational purposes, okay, but the whole staff at WCC, we are all pretty obsessed with conspiracies and our own ideas because there's so many hot takes. Everybody has so many different opinions, and honestly, it's hard to know what or what you don't believe. Last semester, we were really wanting to start a conspiracy based show like just off of our staff and just have like a whole staff hour. That was going to be such a good idea, but it didn't, it fell through, but that's why I wanted to bring it on the show, you know, kind of do it, maybe get some conversation cycling. I think that would be fun, so first off, going to my lovely Instagram, I'm scattering the responses, but every week, I have a question, and I usually hold them off to the end, but if you want to answer each week's question, you can follow me at m-a-c-i-k-a-y-e.a, and I'll ask a question every single week, and I just want to hear you guys respond. That's how you can get involved in the show, and that's just, you know, I feel like connected to you guys. You can always message me, you know, if there's something you want to see. Pulling up my responses, one that stood out, okay, the first one is from Dorian. She's been on the show before, okay? The Titanic crash was intentional. This one's hard for me, okay, because there's so many things that says like, okay, yes, maybe. Okay, so forget the fact that, you know, intentional, like the whole argument, intentionally driving into the iceberg, how could you miss it, all that stuff. Ignore that for a second. We're going to put that on the back burner. Okay, first off, let's think about the whole argument that the Titanic that was sunk wasn't the original Titanic. I haven't really been super well-versed in this, but I have heard so many arguments for people who are firm believers that it wasn't the Titanic that sank because they had swapped out the Olympia, just another ship that was supposed to be like the predecessor, the one that came before the Titanic, and they loaded everyone up onto that versus the Titanic and they were saving it later. So they think there's a little swap up. I feel like that could be feasible. I don't understand why they would necessarily or what argument for like their intention or like their motivation for it if they did swap it. You know, I mean, is it, I mean, the whole argument like, you know, the whole eat the rich kind of thing, I wonder if it were to have been planned like that, if it would have been that motivation, you know, if people were threats and the people who could afford to be on it, they were like, oh, we're going to, you know, try to figure something out and, you know, get rid of anybody who's interfering us. But besides that swap up, the big argument is, you know, about them hitting the iceberg. I'm like, I don't know because I haven't driven a ship. I mean, maybe some of you air pilots or, you know, like ship drivers, if any of y'all have done anything exotic like that could tell me, like, if there was an iceberg, do you think it would have been possible to see it? Like, I feel like, I don't know. I'm not really well versed in the Titanic stuff, but Dorian, I want to hear all your thoughts, please. Like, next time you hop on the show, we could talk about it, girl. Like, text me. I need to know. Okay. There was something else I was going to add. Oh, speaking about Titanic, this is more of a hot take than a controversial opinion, but I've heard so many people argue about whether or not, you know, in the movie Titanic, if they both could have fit on the door. And I've heard good arguments from both sides, but I'm a firm believer that they could not. I saw, like, a big game theory. Game theory is also really good about conspiracies and theories, and I'm pretty sure their deciding factor was no, and that's kind of what I was leaning on. I feel like, I don't know the buoyancy of a door in the water with that much weight, and that's just, you know, considering average weights, and I don't know what material it was made out of, but I feel like, you know, it might have been more slow and not fun that way. I mean, I think only one person could have made it on it. I don't, you know, like, sure, there's enough room to fit two people, but, you know, is it practical? Is it, you know, is it going to hold up? Especially with the waves and all that and the chill? I don't know. So, that is my conspiracy theory. We received, that have been stated in the responses based off the Titanic. You guys, we still have a whole, whole, whole, a whole lot more in the show to go. So, if you still want to send your responses, it is not too late. Go on Instagram and follow me at m-a-c-i-k-a-y-e.a, and you can just go on my story. It's still up. Also, rest in peace Toby Keith, and congratulations to Miley Cyrus for winning her first Grammy. That is why I chose those two first songs, but right now, we have some Post Malone on the road. Stay tuned, and chants up. You're back listening to WCCU Radio, Coastal Carolina University student-run radio station. You're back on the Antisocial Butterfly, and it's just me today, Missy Kay. So, that's all good. It's okay. Today, we're talking about conspiracies, in case if you're joining late. So, just, this is kind of to wind us back into topic, but the whole reason I was inspired to do this was because I, if you don't know, I love Post Malone, okay? That's why I played him beforehand. I always try to sneak him into the show somewhere. I love Post Malone, right? And even though I'm not like a Swifty, my fans are, or not my friends, I meant friends, I'm sorry. Whenever I think of Taylor Swift, I think of her fan base, sorry. But my friends are really big Taylor Swift fans, and you know, I never really heard of Travis Kelce until the Super Bowl, when him and his brother were competing against each other, but I really didn't like look into him or anything like that, and I was just Google searching this guy, you know, and I was like, he kind of reminds me of someone, and I realized it was Post Malone. So, my joking theory, it'll eventually come back in full circle, but as of right now, my theory is Post Malone and Travis Kelce are clones, okay? And don't say their age difference, like, oh, what about their age difference? Nuh-uh. I think they were made for different industries, okay? Think about like your whole Star Wars, Metal Gear stuff, okay? They're clones. Travis Kelce was the first one, he was a prototype, or maybe he had somebody that came before him, I don't know, but his whole purpose was to serve the football industry. He was gonna be a star athlete, okay? And now he's 34, okay? Post Malone, I believe, is like 28 now? I think he's 34, and then Post Malone's like 27, 28, or something like that. So then, after that many years later, they roll out, all right, we want, we want, he has potential, you know, the prototype worked, we're gonna roll out this one that looks a lot like him, too, for the music industry. So, my theory and all that is that they're clones, okay? And I find it even funnier, the whole thing that made me prompt this is because all my friends were talking about Post Malone making a song, or Taylor Swift making a song featuring Post Malone, and it's titled Fortnite, okay? If you don't know, I love Fortnite, and Post Malone is my favorite musician, okay, favorite artist ever. And so, I was trying to think, like, okay, they have very different genres, yeah, they're both pretty mainstream, but how does this connect? How do the two ends meet together? And so, that's my theory for the time being. I think Taylor Swift just brought on Post Malone because it's her boyfriend's clone, you know? I don't know, that's my, that's the only explanation I have. So, that whole scheme made me think of more conspiracy theories, right? That's literally the whole reason, I just, I didn't talk about it, it's because of Post Malone and Travis Kelce, okay? Hate me for it, I don't care. Anyways, so, before we even go on the topic with that, Taylor Swift is being, like, blown up in the media, that's a whole nother conversation, but I want to know y'all's thoughts on that. Trying to sue a college student, Celine Dion, I can't, she's big in the music industry, came out of hiding, and then Taylor Swift doesn't acknowledge her, forces Lana Del Rey on stage, so a lot of people aren't very happy with her, there's a lot of damage control. My point is, I want to hear what you guys think of that, I'm uneasy, but point of the matter is, I will still be listening to Fortnite. Okay, back to the actual conspiracy theories, let's see here, let's see here, we're going to go back to submissions, submissions. Oh, before I talk about submissions, there's another one, another celebrity controversy, conspiracy theory, whatever you want to call it, that I'm here for, but I don't believe whatsoever, is Trisha Paytas. Okay, Trisha Paytas is literally on so, so many media, she was on TV shows, movies, you've seen her everywhere, she got famous on social media for a bunch of different reasons, but now she's settled down, she's married, but there's a big conspiracy surrounding her children, so it all started, it was actually my first year at Coastal, she got pregnant, and then there was a whole thing that, you know, the queen is reincarnated as Trisha Paytas' baby, like everyone start praying, and that was a whole joke, right, and it was just merely a joke, because the queen was not being, like, feeling well, and you know, Trisha Paytas, you know, just out of nowhere, nobody was expecting the queen like that, and nobody was expecting Trisha Paytas, so they tied the two ends together, and so it was a joke that whenever Trisha Paytas got pregnant again, like, oh no, like, keep an eye on, you know, King Charles, like the royal family, and it got released this week, that he is suffering, I don't, if they want to think it's colon cancer, somebody please fact check me on that, but, and so it's, it's really sad, but nevertheless, it's like, everybody started it as a joke, and then it's like, ooh, like, you know, but I don't believe it whatsoever, but I mean, it's, I just find it very ironic that this kind of happened twice, and I feel like it's worth mentioning, speaking about brands, and people, and stuff, another conspiracy that I firmly believe in, you, there's no one convincing me with this one, is Disney Frozen, okay, like Disney's Frozen, okay, so everybody knows the conspiracy about, you know, Walt Disney having his body frozen and preserved somewhere on the Disney campus, and I want, I want to think it's like Pirates of the Caribbean people believe it's that, or there's some sneaking suspicions, but even before Disney's Frozen came out, I was big into that conspiracy, and anytime you looked up, like, Walt Disney Frozen, or anything like that, it would just pull up articles on this conspiracy. I firmly believe they created Frozen to redirect this attention, okay, I'm not saying whether or not I believe that Walt Disney is on Disney property, or Frozen, or anything, I don't believe that necessarily, but for whatever reason, Disney did not like this publicity, did not like everybody swarming with these ideas, they made Frozen as a means, I don't know, but just to basically get the attention off that, and be like, oh, like, let's just flood all these searches about us, more about our product, so we can get more revenue, I think it was a marketing strategy, I fully do, there's no unconvincing me on that, okay, speaking about media, and stuff, the moon landing, this is a big one for people, this is a big one, okay, I, okay, so, I don't know, I don't know if the moon landing was faked or not, because part of me is, like, logistically, like, yeah, like, why would, why would the camera be there, like, there looks like there's strings involved, it looks like there was some sort of, like, intervention, and stuff, but then I kind of look more factually, not factually based, more into, like, I think what happened was somebody released a book about the moon landing, and the intervention, and I think then people started running with the theory, but I'm not really sure, but going back to our responses, Madison suggested that, Madison Chirac, okay, she said the moon landing was faked, that is her firm stance on what conspiracy she believes, so, Madison, if you're listening, I need to know, what about the moon landing convinced you that it was full-on fake, because, like I said, I've heard so many different perspectives, but I'm not fully sold, I don't know, I don't know, I feel like that one's a big one for people, it's like, you either believe it, or you don't, but I firmly mean it, when I'm in middle ground, it's like, I don't know, out of all the things the government could, I know it was a race to the moon, okay, but besides that point, I don't understand what the purpose would be for the government lying to us, now, there have been different situations that I won't dive into, that I firmly believe the government did intervene in, in some way, shape, or form, I'm not thinking a lot of it, but I wouldn't be surprised, I mean, you know, this is America, who knows, so, with that being said, you guys, I'm gonna let y'all listen to some music, okay, speaking about the Grammys, I believe it was Sunday, we had a lot, that was where the whole fiasco happened with the Taylor Swift drama that I mentioned earlier, Miley Cyrus, she has deserved the Grammy for the longest, longest time, you know, she has been, I don't want to say like America's sweetheart, but when it comes to like Disney, and just nostalgia, she has been America's sweetheart, how could she not have gotten a Grammy for Party in the USA, that is all I'm saying, so, she deserves it, bravo, and also, Coco Jones, I don't remember if she won, but I know for a fact she was nominated, so, she was also on Disney, I love Let It Shine, I will advocate for that movie till the day that I die, it was so underappreciated, so, with that being said, I have Coco Jones lined up for you, this is from her album, so, stay tuned, I hope you enjoy, chants up. You're back listening to the Antisocial Butterfly on WCC radio, so, going back to where we were, we had a couple more conspiracies, I'm gonna go on your submissions on my Instagram, let's see here, so, TJ, I don't even know how to pronounce the last name, Donofrio, okay, the FBI killer, that FBI basically instigated, like, different public figures, okay, and Rett, Rett, Rett also said my CIA ones, so, I'm including those two together because there has been a lot of conspiracies with the CIA intervening on public figures, I know MLK, JFK, I'm not really the most well-versed in them, I don't know, I'm not a big history buff by any means, so, I don't know, I think those are very interesting, it really makes you question, you know, like, a lot of the government's involvement in certain situations, you know, and I feel like that kind of also, this doesn't really open the question to this, but I'm gonna make it open the question to this, but I feel like a lot of public figures, I fully believe this, like, you know, it's kind of an automatic guess that, or not guess, but I think a lot of celebrities fake their deaths, and I'm not saying, like, a whole, whole bunch, because I know it's something that's hard to get away with, but I don't know, I just, I don't know, some people just disappear, and, you know, it's like, oh, they're, they've passed away, but there's little to no explanation for why, so, not even that, I feel like sometimes maybe people disappearing could be the government, maybe it's their own thing, especially with Hollywood in the industry, and just being a public figure, but those are really, really interesting ones. Another conspiracy, I fully, okay, this was one that I had heard, and this was honestly one of my favorite conspiracies, and I think it just got debunked recently in the news, but Amelia Earhart, okay, you know, the the woman who flew the planes, all the, wanted to go around the world, all that stuff, yeah, magically disappeared, nobody really knew about it, but there was a big, big conspiracy that I had to do with her crashing and running into coconut crabs, I'll leave it there, but then recently, like, for the longest time, nobody knew about it, but recently there was some deep sea, like, screens and stuff done, I want to think it was on the coast of South Carolina, but people were basically like, hey, like, we think we found Amelia Earhart's plane, I've seen it a lot, I don't know the authenticity of it, but I'm just throwing that out there, but it seems like, and somebody even mentioned that there was possibly, like, logs, the last little bit of logs, that just nobody mentioned until recently, so the whole thing is still, like, suspicious to me, it's a little fishy, pod not intended, but I don't know, I don't even know how I feel about that one anymore, it's like, okay, I'll, like, put that on pause for now, and we'll just see what else comes about, what I, what I feel, another thing that, this is not my expertise, okay, somebody would have to let me know on this, but Antarctica, that's a conspiracy in itself, if you ask me, it is so, so, so sketch, it's like, why don't you want people going to Antarctica, oh, there's, like, labs and scientific stuff, oh, okay, and then, you know, it's just never really talked about, like, I kind of, this is gonna sound so dumb, but I kind of forget it's a continent, like, why is that, what's going on in Antarctica, I feel like, for me, that's the whole Area 51, you know, everyone wanted to swarm Area 51, let's all swarm Antarctica, let's see what they, they can't, they can't stop us all, I'm not leading a revolution, please, I mean that as a joke, I mean, I don't know, I'm, I saw, like, an article or something about it, kind of the mystery of it, and kind of the more conspiracy side, but you guys, I'm so busy in my day, it goes in one ear and out the other, I can't even think about it, but I think that's interesting, I feel like it's kind of concerning, I feel like they're hiding something there, whether or not they want to admit it, another one, this, I don't know, because, okay, edit, okay, let's say this, okay, let me preface this, editing, photoshop, deepfakes, they're all an issue right now, technology's good, I don't know what's real or not anymore, okay, I'm not a Simpsons fan at all, okay, it's not my thing, but I'm kind of suspicious of the Simpsons, you know, like, I don't know, like, if it is true, and the clips are very, like, actually accurate, then how is it that it's just remaking, like, a lot of the things, like, for instance, there's, the most popular one that I can think of right off is, like, the Trump, whenever he's, you know, going, I don't remember if it's an escalator or the stairs, but he's leaning over, and he's waving, and the Simpsons had a video, apparently, beforehand of it, and there was a post in the background that dropped, and in real life, it dropped, and, I mean, you can't really recreate something like that, especially when it's a presidential candidate, or, you know, because I think at the time he was a candidate, I don't remember if he was president at the time, speaking of which, I won't be here this weekend, I'm going to Charleston to celebrate Valentine's Day with my lovely Rhett, but I also want to let you guys know, there, Trump is coming to Coastal, that was the wildest thing, that was not on my bingo card, I know Nikki Haley came to Coastal, but Trump, this weekend, having tickets for Trump, you know, the thing is, I've heard a lot of people who stand in every single different political direction on the spite realm, but it's, it's, he's a celebrity, you know, he's not, he hasn't only been the president, he's been a celebrity, a lot of people just want to see this man, I'm shocked, please let me know if you're going to the Trump rally, they actually sent out an email, and a message, out of all things, on like the CCU Rec app, oh, the Recreation Center will be closed, because I don't remember if it was Saturday or Sunday, but one of those days, the Trump rally will be here, I just laughed, I just, I don't know, not really, wasn't expecting that, all right, what other ones, I mean, that's really all the conspiracies I've lined up today, which is pretty convenient, it's kind of lining up right on time, I mean, if any of y'all have some, let me know, but like I said, I was just inspired by that funny theory, because it's like, oh, like, I don't, I don't know if I fully believe this, but it's a funny theory, what if I just like, do a show about conspiracies, especially since the staff wanted to do a whole show dedicated to it, like just staff, so if you want to see our staff talk about conspiracies, what firm stances we have, just let me know, okay, we could get that lined up for you guys, also, I am not doing the intro, outro, like, lo-fi track, the audio's messed up on that, I'm not gonna worry about it, I'm just gonna like, close my show right here, okay, and then we got some more songs for you guys, but I don't know, I just, I don't know, tying in everything, it doesn't matter what conspiracies you believe, oh, one more thing, forgot, Anna, Anna, I heard, we had had a conversation about this, like last week, actually, I want to think she said that somebody believed that the sky was a green screen, like space was just a green screen, I think that is the funniest conspiracy I've ever heard, it's like a more modern take on the flat earther thing, so that just made me laugh, so do any of y'all think that the sky is a green screen, that's a big question, but yeah, going back to what I was saying, I meant to add that, because she texted it to me, and not on the response, but yeah, I know so many of y'all have so many firm, like, very strong theories to go off of, I personally don't, I'm just like, I just do it for the laughs, I like lore, just, it makes me laugh, so funny, I don't know, let's see here, and then we talked about modern events, I don't know, I don't know, I feel like people are starting to turn on celebrities, and like, go to new ones at this point, I mean, I feel like we shouldn't, like, worship, like, you know, a bunch of big figures, because it's like, they're going to let us down at some point, I'm just like, I don't even know, but with that said, you guys, I'm going to have to go, actually really soon, I have a yoga class I have to do, it's like a prerequisite, or not a requisite, but for our final, we have to do like five classes outside of our classroom yoga sessions, and so I have to get that done, it's at 5 30, and I still haven't dropped off my stuff to my call, so I have to do that, but with that said, you guys, I have some songs lined up for you, but thank you so much for tuning in today, and next week I will be talking all things Valentine's, so I have one or two people I'll bring on, we'll see which one it is, but I'm so excited, I wish I could talk to you all about Valentine's this week, but I won't be able to until I celebrate it with Rhett, so we'll have to keep that, you know, in our back pocket, but thank you guys so much, keep listening to WCCU radio, we have another show coming in at seven o'clock today, it's the Patriots podcast, but stay tuned, we have some more music lined up for you, and Sean's up!
