Type 1 diabetes can be treated with finger sticks glucose testing or a continuous glucose monitor. The finger sticks test uses a small amount of blood on a test strip to measure glucose levels. The continuous monitor uses a sensor implanted under the skin to constantly measure glucose levels and transmit the data to a receiver or mobile app. A treatment for type 1 diabetes is finger sticks glucose testing which uses a tiny amount of blood on a single test strip. The substances on the strip react with blood glucose producing a signal that can be picked up by a device and translated into a numerical concentration of glucose. Another treatment is a continuous glucose monitor where glucose levels in interstitial fluid are measured by a tiny sensor that is implanted beneath the skin. The sensor records glucose data constantly and transmits it to a transmitter which wisely communicates the data to a receiver or mobile application.
