This is a podcast episode where the host interviews Gary about underrated fast food chains. Gary believes that Subway is the most underrated because people criticize it for being like making your own sandwich, but he thinks it's on the person if they don't like their own creation. He also mentions that Subway has reasonable prices compared to other chains like McDonald's. Gary thinks Subway is his favorite chain because it offers healthier choices. He also recommends Popeye's on Uber Eats and mentions that Taco Bell has vegan options. When asked about the healthiest chain, Gary says Subway again. Lastly, he mentions a local chain called Dutch's in Connecticut that he believes is better than McDonald's but not well-known. Hello everyone, this is Kenny Denslow and you're listening to Chat About These Fast Food Chains, a podcast where I will ask people about what they believe to be the most underrated fast food chains. In this podcast, I will interview people and ask them all about what they believe to be the most underrated fast food chains. In this episode, I am interviewing Gary Alvarez. How are you doing, Gary? Doing great. How are you? I'm doing great as well. Thank you for asking. So let's start out with the million dollar question. What do you believe to be the most underrated fast food chain and why? I think that Subway is the most underrated, and I say that because I think people overhate on Subway, but it's sort of like make your own sandwich, and people who say they don't like sandwich, or Subway is like, you just made your own sandwich, you don't like your own sandwich. So it's definitely on you. So I think it's the most underrated. I completely agree. I love Subway. And so what do you believe is the least noticeable thing about Subway? The least noticeable thing about Subway? I think their prices. Their prices are actually not that bad, because I feel like, if you compare it to like McDonald's right now, like McChicken's probably like, what, like $3 now almost, and like Subway, like if you pay like $6 for like a six-inch, I feel like you just get more of the price you get instead of like a $3 McChicken's. You can easily get like two or three. Absolutely. And so to build on that, what does Subway have that other fast food chains do not? You know, as long as you eat fresh, they have a lot more healthier choices than most other fast food chains, so, you know, yeah. Definitely, definitely. And is it fair to say that Subway is your favorite fast food chain? It is. Yeah, it's probably my favorite fast food chain. I respect that. I've reviewed a source that discusses online food delivery by Al-Ghamdi, Salih Yaya, and others. Now, Gary, I know you use Uber Eats quite often. What fast food chains deserve more recognition on Uber Eats? Um, I think Popeye's, you know? I think Popeye's is pretty good on, um, because I feel like, where I order, I don't know how it is over in different places, but definitely, like, I feel like Popeye's, like Uber Eats, definitely should try it. Yeah, I know it's probably not the most hot take that people would choose, but, like, I don't know, sometimes Popeye's and Uber Eats, it's different. I agree. And another source I've looked at by Bagnato, Mariangela, and others emphasizes the popularity of McDonald's, KFC, and Subway. So, I know we talked about Subway. What are your thoughts on McDonald's and KFC? Um, KFC, I haven't been there, I'll be honest. I remember it being okay. I never really ate at KFC, and I think people who go to KFC, like, they, honestly, like, KFC is just like a, like a once a month thing. Maybe not even once a month, but, like, you don't really get it as often as you do with McDonald's. And McDonald's is getting flagged right now. Like, their dollar menu isn't even a dollar anymore, like, their prices keep going up and up, and honestly, the key reason their price might be the downfall of McDonald's. Yeah, those prices definitely are going up. A source I looked at talks about fast food consumption among people 12 to 15 years old by Lee, Lien, and others. So, what fast food chains do you think are so good that they deserve more recognition all around the world? Um, what fast food chain? Honestly, like, I said, Subway, and honestly, like, Taco Bell, too. I feel like Taco Bell, like, you might not know this, but Taco Bell has a lot of vegan options, like, you can ask for it, and so, like, I feel like, and Taco Bell is, it's a little overpriced, in my opinion, but, honestly, like, if you're looking to, like, cut, or, like, get, like, a good bulk, you can get, like, a chicken bean burrito, and honestly, like, you can't get that at, like, McDonald's. Like, everything's fried, you know, and Taco Bell is, like, you're just getting the straight up beans, chicken, like, tortillas. Right. No, I, yeah, I actually didn't know. And, so, I want to talk more about Uber Eats, since I have looked at another source that discusses online food delivery by O'Sylie, Tariq M., and others. What fast food chain do you not see on Uber Eats that you wish you did see? Um, what fast food chain? I don't even know, like, what, I feel like most fast food chains are on Uber Eats. Unless there's one I just can't think of, but. No, that's valid, and I actually have another question. Another source I've looked at by Thomas G. Pickering talks about what the healthiest fast food chains are. So, what is the healthiest fast food chain, in your opinion? It has to be Subway. Subway? That's valid. And, so, okay, Gary, this last question relates to a source that discusses unnoticed fast food chains. What fast food chain do you believe has become the least unnoticed? Least unnoticed? Or most unnoticed? Most unnoticed? Yeah. Um, I don't even, alright, over here we have Dutch's, and I know it's a Connecticut thing, but I feel like not a lot of people in Connecticut know about Dutch's, and that definitely, I feel like, honestly, it's better than McDonald's, if you ever come down to Connecticut. Dutch's is definitely way better than McDonald's, in my opinion. It's less cheaper, and I don't know if they taste way better. I respect your take.
