Aloha. Ohalanjuu's Kamanu Kou Inua. My garment was created to bring awareness to invasive plants in Hawaii. I chose this issue because growing up on Oahu, I have seen an increase in invasive plants that is negatively impacting and throwing off our ecosystem, like the mangrove and haulekoa. The design on my outfit represents the invasive species taking over the indigenous and endemic plants. The leaves on my pants and green in my shirt. This garment is a call to action, showing we can all collectively help by consciously keeping our aina clean and being intentional with what we bring to the Hawaiian islands.
