During week four of this program, you'll gain hands-on experience by driving a commercial motor vehicle on public roads. You'll learn how to handle the vehicle properly, such as using turn signals, checking mirrors, and shifting gears. You'll also have access to different equipment for practice. It's important to practice and be prepared for the challenges ahead. When you get to this point, you're almost done. During week four, you'll be out on the road with some hands-on experience. This week, you'll hone your ability to handle the operation of a commercial motor vehicle, behind the wheel, on public roads, and in actual driving situations. Don't hit the curb. Don't forget your turn signal. Don't roll backward before taking off from a stop. Remember to check your mirrors before changing lanes. Don't miss a shift. Oh, it's more than that. Get ready. You'll have access to a variety of equipment. For the CDLA, you'll work with manual transmission. You might drive a 2012 to 2016 Freightliner Cascadia sleeper cab, a Detroit diesel motor, or an Easton Ford 10-speed tow on a 48-foot trailer or not haul on any freight. Practice, practice, practice.
