The speaker is disappointed with the movie Godzilla X-Con The New Empire. They were expecting Godzilla to be a primary character, but it turned out that Kong had more screen time. The speaker was also disappointed with the portrayal of the baby King Kong, as it was not cute and cuddly. However, they appreciated the bond between Kong and the deaf character Jia. The movie explores different realms and pits Godzilla and Kong against a new giant threat. The speaker praised the immersive setting and directing, but was disappointed with the lack of electricity projection from Godzilla. Overall, they feel apprehensive about future franchises and will rely on reviews before deciding to watch them. Hello everyone, this is Christina Lamblin for April 9th, 2024, reporting for ABC Journalism. My review comes in for Godzilla X-Con The New Empire. I had made my way to the movie theater expecting this to be the highlight of this month's movies as I am very partial to the Godzilla movies because as a child I was watching these with my father, so there's very much a nostalgic feel to this. I was very much disappointed in this movie. Godzilla X-Con The New Empire is not at the top of my list. Again, I was expecting to see the colossal sized monsters throughout the movie as the title alluded to the fact that Godzilla would be one of the primary characters in the movie. I was sadly mistaken when Kong was the main character who was throughout three quarters of the movie. Kong wasn't even essentially part of the movie until almost the end. To my dismay, Godzilla made such a limited appearance that it just took away from the feeling of the movie and just ruined my childhood excitement and the nostalgia that I always feel when I see the sequels to Godzilla and King Kong movies. However, I was rather surprised in the fact that there was a baby King Kong ape that made his appearance throughout the movie. Although you would think that he would be cute and cuddly, he was not cute and cuddly. He was just the opposite. It was a very disappointing character because as a mother, you would think that you'd have these cuddly, want to just embrace this little baby and it was just a holy terror. So however, King Kong did show his softer side with his returning cast who plays Jia, the deaf character. So the bond that they created using sign language because Jian is deaf and trying to communicate with King Kong was again established in this sequel, which was part of the reason why I couldn't give it 100% thumbs down. So the movie does move through the established Titan realms as King Kong is reigning in his underworld. He's nestled deep within the Earth's core while Godzilla's domain still stretches over the oceans along the continental coastal lines. The paths intersect in a battle for supremacy when they confront a new colossal giant, a threat that instills fear and jeopardizes the survival of the human race. Despite my disappointment, I have to commend the director Adam Wingard for his masterful work. The movie's setting was very much immersive in the titan's role with a thrilling experience because characters take you through this transport into the heart of the action and makes you feel like you're part of the movie when you're going from the crust of the Earth down to the center of the core where King Kong is reigning and battling for his reign with other felt like Planet of the Apes kind of scenario where the apes are starting to project their dominancy. So that was part of an aspect that I wasn't prepared for. I was also disappointed with how Godzilla's scaly body still has the electric field but in the previous movie he projects this stream of electricity and power. That was not what I saw in this movie and so that was also a disappointment because that was part of what I loved about seeing Godzilla amp up his power and just project it from his jaws of this is me, I am here. So Warner Brothers and Legendary Pictures missed the mark with Godzilla versus Kong the new empire and it kind of left me feeling apprehensive about the future franchises of these movies. I just rely a lot on my nostalgia that prompts me to want to see these movies and I just did not feel this in the new Godzilla x Kong the new empire. Hopefully the next one will be better but I will have to definitely watch the reviews. I'm not quite sure if I will make the premiere showing of this the future movies for Godzilla versus Kong. Thank you. I hope you all enjoy this podcast review and I look forward to making more. Thanks again. Have a great day.
