Along with personal adornment and our first figurative art, flutes were one of our earliest cultural accomplishments. There is something deep-rooted and indelible in these simple flutes. Something that lends itself to a much deeper connection with the instrument. And they still have a lot to teach us about understanding the history of our own musical expression.
