Sabrina Kleinfeld explains that copyright grants creators private rights to their creations, giving them control over its use and derivative works. Teachers must follow copyright laws, but fair use allows limited use without permission. Factors to consider include test brevity, test spontaneity, and the commutative effect on the market. Hello everyone, my name is Sabrina Kleinfeld and today I'm going to be talking to you about copyright. What is copyright? Copyright gives the creator of a certain creation private rights to their creation. So creators have control over who uses their creation and the work that comes from their creation. How does copyright affect teachers? A lot of teachers don't know the rules of copyright. Just because you are a teacher does not mean you get an exception to copyright laws. Even though copyright can scare a lot of teachers, there is a way that teachers can use copyright through fair use. Fair use allows limited use of copyright material without requiring permission from the creators. There are a few components of copyright use, like test brevity, which is the percent of the work that can be used. Test spontaneity, which is the time between the design and when you actually use the work. And commutative effect, will your work affect how it does in the market? I hope this helps you learn a little bit more about copyright.
