The speaker discusses the importance of speed and clarity in phone menu instructions. They emphasize the need to clearly communicate button options and allow enough time for the listener to respond. The speaker advises against using a playful or silly voice and instead recommends delivering the instructions clearly, slowly, and effectively. Thank you for calling DiscoverCard. Please enter your account number. Please enter the last four digits of your Social Security number. For information on account transactions, press 1. For stop payment, press 2. To make a transfer, press 3. To repeat menu, press 8. To return to the main menu, press 9. Please hold, and a customer service representative will be with you shortly. Thank you for calling. So, oddly enough, for this one, I had to think about something which hadn't really come up quite frequently in my other analyses, and it was speed of delivery. With something that's interactable and something like a telephone menu, speaking as someone that's had to go through one of these bank things before, it's very important to know what button you need to press and when. So, I found that I was taking more of my time with this and slowing down just to make sure that the instructions that I was giving were both clear and allowed time enough to settle before moving on. Now, I mean, again, well, with narration in general, but with this one specifically, not a lot to play around with unless they're giving you a character. For this one, I would not recommend a character. You're just communicating information and helping someone navigate a database. So, playfulness, a silly voice, not necessary. Just do it, do it well, do it clear, do it slow, and you've got it.
