A group of friends discuss various controversial topics on a podcast. They debate whether mac and cheese should be eaten with a spoon or a fork, and whether ketchup and soy sauce should be refrigerated. They also discuss whether cheerleading is a sport and their opinions on the death penalty. They then talk about strange laws in Idaho and the cost of college tuition. Oh yeah, I don't, yeah, that's cool. Okay, introduce yourself. Hi, guys, I'm Emily. I'm Leah. I'm Kenzie. And I'm Carsten. And we're gonna do a podcast on controversial topics. Woop woop. Wow. Okay, so what's our first one? Our first one is, do you eat mac and cheese with a spoon or a fork? So it's running small. I don't know, this is a big debate, what do you mean? Depends on what kind of mac and cheese. Just Kraft. Kraft mac and cheese. The cheese. Oh, let's go. I eat it with a spoon too. Okay, yeah. I eat it with a fork. I eat it with a fork. I like to stab it. No, because that doesn't make any sense. Kraft mac and cheese is the best mac and cheese. How are you gonna eat it with a fork? You're just stabbing your food at that point. Yeah, it's fine. Like it's just mush at that point. It's not even mac and cheese. Guys, if it's like baked mac and cheese, then it's okay to eat it with a fork. Yeah. Or like thick. Thicker than a snicker. Okay. Thicker than a snicker. Do you like a shiv? Personal. Come on. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. Get it, get it, get it, get it. Any mac and cheese, other than Kraft, is kind of disgusting to the itch. Maybe that's because you grew up with Kraft, so you don't understand. Yeah. You don't understand the deliciousness of a homemade mac and cheese meal. But I do. Baked in the oven with crumbly breadcrumbs on top. It's disgusting. And cheesy. Do you want some? Yeah. Baked mac and cheese is the best. If you have it right, not if you get it from the fucking store. Yeah. Oh, yours is like so up high. It's easier for me to talk into the mic if it's like down here. Really? Well, because your chair is so low. It is really low. Oh, maybe that's. We gotta fix it. How do you fix it? I don't know. I tried to fix mine. Press the lever. There's no lever on mine. On the bottom. Just stand up. Just stand up. No, no, that's as tall as it gets. It's okay. I just have a short chair, I guess. I guess. I mean, I don't know. I'll be here and I'll talk into it like this, bitch. No, because like you can pick so much up on your spoon than you can with the. Maybe we need to go to another conference. No, but also, also, spork. What do we think about sporks? I think they're cool. I think they're kindergarten for kindergarteners. Yeah, they're kind of babyish, but. Oh, I love that. I'll mess up some. I will. Get me a good spork. Get me a good spork. At the same time. And a little sippy cup. So you're. No, I'm joking. Okay, actually. Any choice. Once in a while, I will use a sippy cup. But not like, not like one of the ones with like a silicone, you know, silicone teeth. Wow, that was so judgmental of both of us. We were just like, oh no. Anyways. This is a judgment freezer. Controversial topic number two. Does your ketchup and soy sauce go in the fridge or not? I personally put like ketchup and soy sauce in the fridge. Ketchup definitely goes in the fridge. Soy sauce, it's debatable. Yeah. If you want it to be cold, then whatever. That's what I think too. I don't know, when I put soy sauce on my hot meals, I prefer them not to be cold because then it cools down my food. Exactly what I was talking about with the ketchup, guys. It goes in the pantry because why do you want to have cold ketchup on your hot fries? I feel like it balances out. I feel like it cools it down a little bit because the fries are extra hot. But let's say if I'm eating rice and it's hot, I don't want to put cold soy sauce on it. Exactly, so how is it any different with a fry? Because ketchup cools the fry down just a little bit. Oh. What if you're getting like mediocre warm fries? What if you're getting mediocre warm ketchup? That sounds gross too. Like come on, mediocre warm ketchup? Okay, but you're not going to put your mustard in the fridge, are you? Yes. Do you put your mayonnaise in the fridge too? Yes. That has eggs. Actually, I do put mayonnaise in the fridge. We have like this. We put everything. Mustard? Yes. Mmm. I'm not so sure. You're not sure on a lot of things on this topic. Ranch definitely goes in the fridge. Ranch definitely goes in the fridge. Actually, at Costco, there's a ranch that we keep out. No, because that's what I'm saying. If it's not in the fridge when it's out on display, then why are you putting it in the fridge? You know what I mean? You know when you go to restaurants and the ketchup is like out on the table? Mm-hmm. It doesn't get put back in the fridge. No. It just sits on the table. But. But what? There's no way you're going to argue your way out of it, I think. Well, I kind of missed the thing I was going to say. Yeah. I blacked out. You know when you go into a restaurant and the ketchup is on the table. Yeah. They don't put it away. They just leave it on the table. No. That's fine. When it's closing time. Exactly. I don't think. Where do they put it? I think they leave it on the table. They leave it on the table. If they do. I think they leave it on the table. At In-N-Out, we take it. At In-N-Out, we take it. At In-N-Out, we take it out. At In-N-Out, you put it back in the fridge. That may be In-N-Out, but not other restaurants. Well, it depends on the different restaurants. Because we don't know if they do that at other restaurants. No, because I've seen them. I've never looked in a restaurant and you just see the ketchup bottles sitting on the table. Yeah, but still, okay, I get the point. It's just like. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I prefer my ketchup to be cold. I don't know. All right, moving on. Okay, wait, I have one. Is cheerleading a sport? Yeah. Ooh. I would say it is. It's like dancing and gymnastics for sure is a sport. If you're counting dancing and gymnastics as a sport, then you're counting cheerleading as a sport because it's basically a mix between the two. Yeah. It's less like, I don't know, you're doing less. No, but the guys are still lifting a girl on top of their shoulders. Yeah, and you're doing flips. You're doing flips in the air if you're a flyer, so. Girls are carrying the other girl. Okay, yeah, cheer is a sport. Yeah, okay. It is controversial, though, because some people think that. Since it's not in the Olympics, it's not a sport. That's, but like. Football is not in the Olympics. Yeah, exactly. But there is a national television show on them. Um, let's see. Oh, the death penalty, that's a good one. Oh. Honestly, I'm not against it, but I, you don't think what? I don't think, yeah, I don't agree with it. Because a lot of, like I know my state has gotten rid of the death penalty. Like it's just not a thing anymore. I think what's scary is if people are convicted for something that like they didn't do and they're like. And they're put on the death penalty wrongly. That's really not where the problem is. Children, children who are put on the death penalty. You know, it just. Yes. People, it's been, it's happened. That is heartbreaking, actually. It doesn't matter what they did at that point. They're too young. They probably had bad influences growing up. That's not necessarily. Exactly, they're not even fully developed yet, either. Their brain is like not, exactly. That's sad. Speaking of, Idaho has a lot of wacky laws. Well, Idaho is Idaho, you know. Idaho. But there's like an eagle. There's like a law where we're not allowed to sweep our dirt from our driveways onto the street. And like. It's gonna convict you of that. No, but like stop, it's a law. Idaho wacky laws, like Idaho strange laws. It's just because we haven't changed anything in a really long time. So our laws are from a while ago. Here, here we go. 14 crazy laws in Idaho. Oh no, wait, put it in the middle so I can see you a little bit. It's against the law to live in a doghouse kennel or unless you are a dog. Who's living in a doghouse kennel? Please stop, you furry. A furry? In Idaho Falls, it is illegal to ride a motorcycle over the age of 88. That's crazy. Because like, you should be able to ride a motorcycle whenever the fuck you want. Okay, unless you have some sort of disorder. But you can, like you're sick or something. You're too old. You, it's illegal to go on a merry-go-round on Sunday. You rebel, what the fuck? Who's gonna stop me? In Tamarack, it is illegal to buy onions after dark without a permit. Why, do you think some vampires are gonna come up and like fucking suck their blood? Like that doesn't make any sense. Garlic isn't onion. Basically, yeah. What are you talking about? Garlic isn't onion. I'm talking about onions. I know. Should public college tuition be free? Okay, honestly, there should be some sort of system. Well, how we pay for it now is not okay. The amount that we have to pay is the same. It's so much money and all of it goes to the athletic programs and building, like buildings. So why are we paying? We shouldn't have to pay unless we're in the athletic program. Exactly. To pay to be in the athletic program. No, but it's not okay. Do you know how much money goes to football at Boise State? With college football, of course, I'm telling you. A shit ton. Probably more than half of what we actually pay. If 20,000 students all pay five grand each, they make $100 million in one week. That is so much. Like where is all this money going? And then not only that, Idaho incentivizes them to continue to do in-state stuff. I agree that we should pay some money. Not to the extent that we're at, but like some money for maintenance of libraries, building new buildings on campus, things that actually benefit the student body, not benefit only the athletics. Athletics is important too. Again, only if you're in athletics. Now, the rec is different. If my money is going to make the rec better, then that's okay. Yeah. Anything else? We pay a fee for that, by the way. I think it's crazy. We pay a fee for everything, actually. Yeah. Like high schoolers get like thrown into like college. Oh, yeah. Even though they have no money. Also, why am I paying fees for an online course instead of an in-person course? I don't know. That's weird. Or Alex, $91 so you can get the access code. $91 for the access code? Yeah, so you're paying for the class, but you're also paying for the course. No, but if you get the access code from the library, it's cheaper apparently, isn't it? But you get it. You're supposed to just get it from the class. The class access code is always cheapest. Yeah, but I wasn't able to. Should medical marijuana be legal? Okay, I actually did a debate on this in high school. It should be legal. Illegal or illegal? It should be legal. What? Oh, that's the question? No, because, okay. You wanna hear my own stuff? It's technically not addictive. Unless you take very unhealthy amounts constantly. Yeah. Yes. I, okay. But you can get addicted. It's medical marijuana. It's only being prescribed in hospitals by doctors who know exactly how much dosage you need to be taking. They can't sell you more. They can't sell you less. They gotta sell you exactly that amount for that, whatever disease that you have. But in states where non-medical marijuana is illegal and you're still taking medical marijuana, if you start getting marijuana from other places, then it's a problem. Well, yes. I agree with that. But medical marijuana, I think, should be completely legal. Especially having a nurse mom who knows the system. She, in California, marijuana is legal. Yeah. I think it's better than taking opioids as a, like. Yeah. 100%. Opioids are not good for you. Yeah. Opioids? Oh! Controversial topic. I hate this. Anyways, should humans consume dairy milk, or like milk from a cow? Okay, it gives you calcium, but there's lots of other things that give you calcium, so. Yeah. Like, is it gross or not, though? Like drinking milk? Like drinking milk, straight milk. Well, personally, I don't. A glass of milk without cookies. Yes, that's gross. Or like, that's so gross. I know that's what you're saying. I know that's what that is. I know that like most of our guy friends drink milk anyways. Like, straight milk. It's because they want to be different. I don't even think it's that. Like, they like the taste of it, though. I'm a milk person. It's concerning. You're a milk person? You've got to be joking. So, wait, so you'll just drink, what milk do you drink? 1%. Yeah. Okay, okay. Drinking whole milk, straight whole milk, how is that not affecting your stomach? Well, okay, whole milk is actually, whole milk has a lot of sugar in it. But it's sweeter. And, yeah, it's because it's whole milk. Yeah, it's good for you. I just, when somebody drinks milk, and you can smell their breath, and it smells like milk, it's really gross. It just gives me the itch. Yeah, I think it's okay to drink milk. It's probably good for you. It's just not good to drink it, like, excessively, I guess. It's just gross. Yeah. Anyways, another, another, um. School uniforms, yes or no? I hated school uniforms. In my personal opinion. What? Sorry, I just did her math problem, math problem. But, um, I went to a private school, and it was easier, because, like, you had, like, one outfit, and you're like, okay, I don't have to worry. But at the same time, like, I want to dress cute. I want to dress nice. I say no school uniforms, sorry, I say no school uniforms, but, like, dress within a guideline. Yeah. In some respect. Yeah, don't be wearing stuff like a stripper. Don't wear, like, full-on bikini to school, like, I get that. Yeah, that's weird. Yeah, yeah, that's weird. Like, when you're wearing just your, like, a bra to school. I don't think there's anything wrong with cleavage, though. Like, if you're gonna wear a shirt, and you've got a little cleavage on the top, or even if it's a little bit of a low neck, that's fine. Yeah. That's your body, you do what you want. Just don't wear a whole ass bikini because you're, that's when you're, like, asking for it, kind of thing. That's what they mean when they are, like, you're asking for it. Like, you should never be asking for it, quotations around that. Not asking for it, but, like, it's just a little bit out there. It's just a little out there. And to school, you can wear that out. I'm not even gonna judge you if you wear that out to wherever, but to school, it's a little bit of a, it's a learning environment. Mm-hmm. So, but also, I went to private school when I was, like, way younger. Mm-hmm. And having the uniform, it didn't bother me because I was so little. Mm-hmm. But I feel like growing up in that, having no option to wear what I want. Yeah. And, like, it was, like, some of the diversity we had, yeah, there's, like, for my private school, it was, like, two different outfits you could wear. One of them was, like, a skirt, and one of them was, like, ugly-ass beige khakis. Oh. In the summertime. Absolutely not. And it was so bad. And I, like, it was pretty bad. Okay, last topic. Should zoos exist? Zoos? What? Zoo, like a zoo. Should a zoo exist? Okay, you know what? Okay, here's my point of view on it. If, um... POV, Emily. POV, Emily. If this zoo is actually rescuing animals, they should be putting those animals back to where they came from. Yeah. Unless they need a rehabilitation. But letting it open to the public eye and putting on shows and things like that, not the best idea. Yeah, you heard what happened with Shamu. That was so sad. I mean, yes, it's fun. I'm not even gonna lie. I've had fun at SeaWorld. Yeah. And I've had fun at zoos. And at safaris. But safari is different, because they're all free animals and you're riding through them. You still have a danger, obviously, but like... Well, obviously, you're not allowed to get out of the car. Zoos are... There are some, like, okay, SeaWorld, they are rehabilitation. They do let them back out in some situations. In some situations, but not all the time, which is why it's a problem, because... Especially having sea animals. They could be living in an entire ocean. Yeah, an entire ocean that we haven't explored. And I mean, like... Totally different. I think they should all be let free once they're rehabilitated. Yeah, because then you're just, like, keeping them there for no reason, except for money and profit. And that's, like, that's not good. But, like, zoos, like, having... Having, like, a giraffe in that tiny little area when they could have an entire savannah. Yeah. And having a lion stuck in a cage instead of letting them roam free in the... Like, are they really happier than they would be in the wild with their pride? And you know the show Madagascar? Mm-hmm. Trying to shed good light on zoos, that they had fun or whatever. But they were let free. Let me mansplain to you, actually. Actually. They were let free. Actually. And they were more happy then. I feel like that's a great movie to watch if you're talking about... Madagascar? Yeah. Yeah, Madagascar. I like to move it, move it. I like to move it, move it. I like to move it, move it. I like to move it. So are you saying that zoos should be a rehabilitation center? Yes. Yeah, it shouldn't be open. For recovering alcoholics, pandas? Yeah. I feel like it's like you go to zoos and it's a learning experience to see how they rehabilitate the animals and that's what it's based off of, then that's fine. But not to show how their life is so great. Like, it's just not how it is. And okay, I get like the selling thing, like selling little animals or selling Shamu little, the things in the gift shop, that's fine. You're making money to support the rehabilitation of them. Yeah, but that's support. But that money has to go to actually like keeping the animals alive and stuff. Getting them back into the wild. That's what I would advise. Yeah, that's what you want. Circuses with animals. Oh, no. Sorry. I mean, because I remember there was a... Actually, sorry, not sorry. What's the difference between shading our dogs to do things that we want? Well, if they're not doing it as well. An elephant is not a pet. No, no, no, I'm not talking about like... Those animals definitely should not be in whatever. But like, what about like a monkey? That's a pet for lots of people. Or even a dog or cat or something like that in the circus. I feel like that's a little different. Monkeys are different though. Because they're like close, pretty close to humans. Yeah. But like elephants, I think there's like... I think it's okay for a circus to have... I feel like if they're not super like giraffes or lions or elephants, that's fine. You know, if there's like a lizard. Sure, whatever. A lizard. A parrot. A parrot would be the right way. I love circuses, guys. Yeah. What time is it? Guys, I think we gotta go. Hang on. This is the end of our podcast. All right. Peace out. Peace out, homies. Peace out, Girl Scouts.
