Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind: Towards what is this transformation directed??

My name is Gigi Lamiola, Servant of God, Servant of Jesus Christ. In Romans Chapter 12 verse 2, the Apostle Paul says, Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind. Our question is, what is there to transform and to what is this transformation directed? Praise the Lord. We were natural men when the Lord Jesus brought us to Him. But once we cross the line that separates the material world into the world of light and knowledge, there is a behavior that we must adopt in order to get completely rid of the thoughts of the world which held us captive. The Apostle Paul calls this process the renewing of mind. He asks us to be transformed by the renewing of our mind. Transform yourself through the renewal of thoughts, Paul says. But in fact, what is there to transform and to what is this transformation directed? Praise the Lord. In fact, we talk about transformation when something undergoes a thorough or dramatic change. In our context, it is the internal transformation of a person. The Apostle Paul addresses believers saying, let yourselves be transformed by the renewal of your mind. He says our whole mentality must undergo a transformation. Why is this transformation necessary? Well, because formally, as unbelievers, we set our mind on empty things, that is, dead things. You know, per nature, by birth, men are like dead things. In Ephesians chapter 2 verse 1 and Colossians chapter 2 verse 13, the Apostle Paul says that we were dead in trepasses and sins. So by birth, men get interested in dead things. It is kind of like a vulture. You know, vultures are attracted by dead animals. The vulture is a scavenger bird of prey. It feeds on dead animals. He will not chase a live animal, even if an animal is seriously injured. He patiently awaits his death before feeding on it. Vultures are always in the search of dead animals. In the same way, men always run after dead things. Hallelujah. The Bible says that in the past, our mind was directed to things of the earth. We look at things that are seen, ephemeral things. Now what exactly are these visible realities? Well, these are the material things that are worth value. Money, house, car, fame, power, and so forth and so on. These things only last for a while. That's why the Bible calls it dead things. I must admit that all of these things are not bad in themselves. But when they become an obsession, when men remain in the clutches of these things to the point of dedicating their whole life to them, then they completely deviate from the purpose of their life because it is a sign that they love these things more than God. And this is known as the curse of the golden calf. It is a sin against God. Yes, the sin of the calf mentioned in Exodus chapter 32. It is in relation to all these things that the apostle Paul asks us to be transformed by the renewal of our mentality. But what is there to transform? And to what is this transformation directed? That is our question. Well, the apostle Paul does not explain this precisely in Romans chapter 12 verse 2. However, he tells us this in his letter to the Colossians, Colossians chapter 3 verse 1 and 2. In these verses, he urges us to feed on living things. He says, now having become Christian, your intelligence must be renewed. This means there is a different internal attitude that should arise. He is saying now fix your thoughts on living realities. He says, tend toward the realities of above and not toward those which belong to the earth. Hallelujah! What are the invisible realities? What are the things that are not seen? They are love, justice, truth, charity, mercy, and forth and on. All of these things are eternal. Hallelujah! You give the healing and grace our hearts always hunger for. I want to conclude this by saying this. In new creatures, we are fathered by God and as a result, we must fulfill the desire of our heavenly father. The fulfillment of our father's desire passes first and foremost through eternal transformation. We must direct our thoughts to the things above, to the unseen and eternal realities. We should mind the things of the spirit. Now why does the apostle Paul ask us to transform ourselves by renewing our mind? Why? Well, because by this process, we direct our mind to spiritual realities which are eternal. Praise the Lord! Friend, we should pray to God daily to turn our heart to his decrees and not to material gains. David says, incline my heart unto thy testimonies and not to covetousness. Psalm 119 verse 36. Friend, what is the area in life that is nearest and dearest to you? What is your priorities? The things which are seen or the things which are not seen? I would like to tell you that every person who wishes to enjoy peace of mind needs to learn to renounce many ephemeral things in order to possess things that are substantial. Hallelujah! The affection of the flesh is death, while the affection of the spirit is life and peace. Romans chapter 8 verse 6. Well, this is the end of our today's exaltation.
