He considers it one of the best days of his life and a cherished baseball memory. He concludes by thanking Talking Baseball for allowing him to share his story and encourages listeners to subscribe to the podcast. Hello everyone this is Talking Baseball and today I'm your host Michael Schaefer going to be talking about a very special baseball memory that also happens to be one of the best days of my life. So on this episode which we talk about baseball memories on this one we're going to talk about last year opening day which also happens to be one of the best days of my life. So growing up I have always been a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan. I've watched pretty much every game religiously from April to October every year and especially when we're in the playoffs that makes it even better. But last year I was very very very grateful to accept a position as a Bat Boy and so leading up to the leading up to the season the team was obviously still in spring so me and about two others of my co-workers were prepping everything for the season. This in itself was really surreal to me really cool to be down in the clubhouse by myself being able to experience things that I had never been able to experience as a fan of course but this on opening day that Thursday this was this was one of the best moments of my life being in that clubhouse being around all those guys that I had never been around you know growing up on TV seeing guys like Adam Wainwright, Nolan Arnotto, Paul Goldschmidt it's always you know great to feel that they're on your team but meeting them being around them being in their presence is something that I would have never dreamed of being able to do being on that field even it was it was such a surreal experience to me because growing up I I never would have dreamed of being on being a part of the team in a sense you know I don't get to swing the bat but I do get to be around those guys every day in and day out I do get to share experiences with them and get to know them in a sense that the casual fan or really even the most experienced fan doesn't get to experience so for me knowing that the opening day was just the beginning of the season even though of course as we all know it wasn't the season that we had wanted knowing that I was going to get to go on for another six months having these everyday experiences with these guys it was something that I will never forget this is this is a moment for me that I'll talk to my kids about you know that that first day that first game being on the field being in front of a sold-out crowd and being in that Busch Stadium big-game atmosphere is something that I will never forget for the rest of my life and I can confidently say that because growing up I was always such a big baseball fan like my whole life revolved around baseball whether it was playing it whether it was watching Cardinal games whether it was playing it on video games there was I just couldn't get enough baseball and it felt like it was really something that I was I was born to do and it felt like that day that moment being around being in that clubhouse being on that field being in that big-game atmosphere it felt like this was what I was supposed to do this was what I was born to do and I can't I can't thank God enough for giving me this opportunity to really do what I was born to do and I I don't think that I think this will be a very hard moment to top in my life I don't I can't think of many more examples that maybe besides of course I was winning the World Series that would top this moment as being one of the best days of my life and it also happens to be a baseball memory so that's why I'm here on Talking Baseball giving this you guys this story so again that's that's all I have but I really want to give thanks to this podcast Talking Baseball for giving me an opportunity to come on and speak and don't forget to subscribe to the podcast Talking Baseball and I'm out see you guys later thanks
