In Mrs. Gibson's Classroom, they discuss stress and how to manage it. Stress can cause physical and emotional symptoms, so it's important to find healthy coping strategies. They suggest thinking about what causes stress and finding ways to handle it successfully. Maintaining a balanced life is key, taking care of yourself through sleep, exercise, and fun activities. When feeling stressed, seek support from trusted individuals, calm down through deep breaths or activities like listening to music, and remember to be kind to yourself. It's also important to solve the problem and stay positive, as most stress is temporary. The class will continue to explore stressors and ways to reduce stress. Hello, and welcome to Mrs. Gibson's Classroom. Today we are going to be talking about stress and healthy ways to manage it. Okay. We all have stress in our lives, and today we're going to be talking about those stressors and how to use healthy coping strategies to deal with stress. Okay, so let's get started. Stress is what you feel when you're worried or uncomfortable about something. Worrying in your mind can make your body feel bad. When you're stressed, you can feel angry, frustrated, scared, afraid. They can all give you a stomach or even a headache. So I'd encourage you to think about a question. What are some things that make you feel stressed in your life? You can just think of them in your head, write them down if you'd like, things that cause you stress in your life, because when those strong feelings come up, we all have ways to try and cope with them, and coping means to handle something successfully. If you don't cope well with stress, stress can really hurt you. Finding a balance is important. The best way to keep stress under control is to have a balanced life. That means making time to take care of yourself. For example, if you're only dealing with schoolwork and have no time to play, you can get stressed. You need to make sure that you're keeping yourself in mind, sleep, exercise, fun things to do, and the food that you eat are all important when considering finding a balance. And some coping strategies for when you are feeling stressed, number one is to get support. Talk to a friend, trusted adult, parent, relative, counselor, coach, someone you trust. Number two, don't freak out. Notice those feelings, feel them, think about why you're feeling that way, and then find a way to calm down. Deep breaths, listening to music, writing in a journal, playing with a pet, they're all good ways that might help you to calm down. Number three is don't take it out on yourself. Remember there are ways, always, for people to help you. Be kind to yourself. Number four, we want to try to solve the problem. After you've calmed down and you have support from adults and friends, you need to figure out what's going on and what the problem is. Maybe you can work together to begin solving the problem piece by piece. And number five, I would encourage you to stay positive. Most stress is temporary. It may not seem like it when you're going through it, but things do get better. I thank you for listening today. We're going to be continuing on with acknowledging stressors in our life, finding ways to cope with them, and working together to calm ourselves down and have less stress in our lives.
