Tom discusses five essential ways to optimize your website for better SEO. The first step is to identify your niche and target audience. Next, brainstorm keywords related to your product or service. Then, use keyword tools to find valuable data and insights. Analyze your competitors to discover missed opportunities or better keywords. Finally, select your target keywords and focus your efforts on them to achieve the best results. Hello, it's Tom and here we are today with five essential ways to optimize your website for better SEO. So if you want to get the most out of your website, I'm sure you've already started thinking about SEO or search engine optimization, how to get traffic onto your website on a monthly basis and how to sell more of your service or your product. SEO is a fantastic way to do that and in this video I'm going to go through five ways that you can get more out of your SEO. So the first one is to identify your niche. This is a good step right at the start so that we know who we're talking to, who are we trying to reach. If you identify your niche and your target audience, it's going to be so much easier to make sure you're on the right path. So think about your expertise. Think about your expertise. Think about what your USP or what you do differently to everyone else and use that to determine the specific people that you want to reach. What can you do that other people can't do? What is it about the way that you do that that is unique to you? This will help you to identify your niche so that you make sure that you're aiming for the right goal. The next step is to brainstorm keywords. So here we're just trying to look for opportunities, potential keywords that we might use. Later on you're going to choose which ones to focus on but right now we're just trying to get ideas. You're going to generate a list of keywords or key phrases that are going to be related to what it is you're trying to sell or promote and this is going to be a really key part of your SEO because search engines, they're going to look for keywords. It's a fundamental step in your marketing and it's going to ensure that your content and your website structure are set up in the right way. The next step is to use keyword tools. So using keyword tools like the Google Keyword Planner and other third party. So using keyword tools refers to the practice of using specialized software that will go through and find your keywords. As many key phrases as you might need, this provides valuable data and insights. You can find out what the competition is like. You can find out the search volume. It can suggest other keywords based on the keywords that you type in. Sometimes it can analyze your website and give suggestions on what keywords you might want to target. Step four is to analyze your competitors. It's always a good idea to keep an eye out on what the competition is up to. If you analyze your competitors, you might find keywords that you've missed. You might work out that the keyword you thought was a good opportunity is too competitive and there might be a better one to use instead. It might help give you ideas for new products or services or new ways to market your own services. So it's always a good idea to check what the competition is doing. This will help to inform the next step. And the next step is to select your target keywords. So we've gone through and we've thought about who we're trying to reach. We've thought about what potential keywords might be useful. We've thought about what the volume and the competition is like. You've looked at your competitors. Now you want to really fine tune and focus on which keywords are going to give you the biggest benefit. So that's not to say there's a limit and you can only focus on one or two keywords. But it's a good idea to focus your efforts on where you're going to get the best results. So now that we've studied your competitors, thought a little bit about the strategy, we can really focus your efforts on the most important keywords and you can then action that across your website and start to see results. I hope you enjoyed this video about SEO and if you have any questions drop them in the comments. I'll be happy to help.
