Nothing to say, yet
The New York Knicks and the Toronto Raptors made a trade. The Raptors received RJ Barrett, Emmanuel Quickly, and a second-round pick in exchange for OJ Anunoby, Precious Achiuwa, and Malachi Flynn. The Raptors are trying to improve their team, as they are currently not doing well this season. The trade could benefit the Raptors, as they are getting a good player in Quickly. The Raptors need more offense and depth, and this trade helps with that. Barrett hasn't developed as well as the Knicks hoped, but he could still be a productive player for the Raptors. The Raptors may also trade Pascal Siakam in the future. Overall, the Raptors got the better end of the deal. The Knicks get a good wing defender in Anunoby, but they gave up valuable players in Barrett and Quickly. The trade is a risk for the Knicks, as Anunoby is eligible to leave in the offseason. The Knicks get an upgrade with Anunoby, Yo what's good y'all it's Jono back from Top Boss Central and in today's video we're going to be going over the recent trade between the New York Knicks and the Toronto Raptors which the New York Knicks are sending away RJ Barrett, Emmanuel Quickly, and a second round pick in return for Oji and Inouye, Preston Sachua, and Malachi Flynn. So this is a very interesting type of trade right here going on. The Raptors are starting to figure out that they need to make some trades in order to make their team better because they're not going anywhere this season. It was definitely smart to make this move because we've been seeing all these Oji and Inouye rumors for a couple seasons now. The Raptors are currently 12-19. They're sitting at number 12 in the Eastern Conference right now. Honestly, I think the Raptors did get the better end of the deal because they're getting one of the best guys that can come off a bench in Emmanuel Quickly. Last season he was one of the best guards and six men in the league. Also, I just think it adds that extra offense that I believe the Raptors need as well because they need some more pieces and depth added to that team obviously. I just believe it adds some key pieces that they need and were missing. I just think they got that better end of the trade honestly because you're getting a great rotational piece in Emmanuel Quickly. This is a guy who averages 15 points a game, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.5 assists on 45.4% from the field shooting-wise. He's also very young and still has time to develop his game. This man is just electric coming off that bench and he could definitely do that for the Raptors as well because this season he's been hitting 39.5% of his threes on 11.1 attempts per 100 possessions. Now going over to R.J. Barrett, R.J. really hasn't developed as well as the Knicks were hoping for when they signed him to a four-year $107 million extension in 2022. He does have some problems with being efficient and he may not be the best passer and he really isn't a major threat from the three-point range or from what he's shown at least. He does feel like kind of a bit of an odd fit on this roster but this roster does need more shooting and he still is a productive young player that I honestly think could be playing even better because he's returning back to his home country in Canada. But honestly, I just think it's great that the Toronto Raptors are trading for these two guys because it brings that wing presence that they need to be able to shoot from the perimeter. And like I've been saying, I think the Toronto Raptors just need a little bit of a reset and also I think the Toronto Raptors could also be trading Pascal Siakam later on in the season maybe. Because some recent tweets and news have came out ever since that trade and it said that Toronto is expected to continue to explore trades involving Pascal and that would be nice for them because I think Pascal just needs a new place to play at and a new team. And I think it would just work out great for the both of them because it would work out great because they're trying to rebuild around Scottie Barnes right now. And Pascal Siakam would just I think fit better on a different team and hopefully the Raptors can find some kind of a good trade for Pascal because he needs to go somewhere else that he could probably have a higher chance at winning it. And I think the Raptors just need to see how much they can get out of him for like a trade. But now I want to move back on to the main topic of this video and that is RJ Barrett with that trade situation. I just honestly think RJ Barrett moving back to his home country in Canada, I think he's going to be playing even better and he's going to be more of a fan favorite. And honestly if the Raptors get things clicking with this offense that they got now, I think they could give teams some problems. And I'm not sure if I mentioned it or not earlier in the video, but they also did receive one second round pick. And I'm not sure if I really mentioned it, but they also did receive one second round pick as well. I'm not really sure which year it is currently at the recording of this video, but this definitely helps this Raptors team as they are rebuilding right now and it helps with that future. So overall in total, I would have to give the Raptors an A letter grade for the trade because I think they did get the better end of the deal here. But now I'm going to break down the New York Knicks side of things of them getting OJ and Inouye. And I was just honestly kind of shocked with them trading both RJ Barrett and Emmanuel Quickly away and also a second round pick. I feel like they should have just traded one of those guys in a first rounder. I feel like that would have been much more better of a deal for them. But they do get a very great wing defender and he is good from the perimeter side of things on offense as well as he's shown continuously this season. Some games he's been a little inefficient, but he can be nice and knock down some shots for them on the wing as well. And OJ I feel like is a great fit for them. He brings that overall defense that they need from the wing and he's one of the best three and D style wings in the NBA. And this season he's shooting 37.4% from three this year on six attempts per game. He's also been shooting above 60% from the two point range for the first time in his career. And he has led the NBA in steals per game. I think it was one year ago. And he will be an unrestricted free agent after this season where he will be expected to sign a huge contract with the Knicks probably. And I just think that he'll be big help for a team that currently ranks at number 15 in defensive efficiency. And I'm not sure if I mentioned his stats this season or not, but he's currently averaging 15.1 points per game, almost four rebounds and 2.6 assists per game this year while shooting at 48.9% from the field. And the Knicks are also getting a guy that was named to the NBA all defensive second team last season and he is on pace to get that again this year. But yeah man, I just feel like this man is going to elevate that Knicks perimeter defense so much more. And I would expect OGN and OB to handle all of New York's toughest assignments on both regular season and most notably in the playoffs for sure. And OG may not be the best at creating shots by himself, but he can definitely space the floor and attack closeouts and occasionally bully his way in between buckets with his strength. But the Knicks are paying a considerable price tag for a player eligible to leave in this offseason. And the Knicks have the financial capital and big market advantage necessary to resign this man, but it's a risk nothing less. And that risk is amplified by the quality of the players that New York did give up. Now getting Unanobi is an immediate and significant upgrade over R.J. Barrett, but Emanuel quickly leaving is pretty tough I would say for them because he gave that bench that spark that they needed. And he was just excellent to have in the pocket whenever Brunson went down or Brunson just had to take a breather. I mean this man steps right in and puts up a quick 15 points, which definitely helped the Knicks on a night-to-night basis. But I do believe that he will be very impactful for this team. And they also did get Precious Ochoa who will start as the third string center behind Mitchell Robinson and Isaiah Hardenstein probably. So with that being said, overall I would have to give the Knicks a B-letter grade. And I would say that the Raptors did win this trade overall.
