This is a podcast called "Our Plan From Here" created by students at Borough of Manhattan Community College. The goal of the show is to help students plan their lives by learning from others' experiences. The host, Chris Moss, is an adjunct professor at the college who has noticed that students often have a general idea of what they want to do but lack a concrete plan. The show will feature interviews between two students discussing their goals, aspirations, and how they plan to achieve them. The conversations will be unedited and organic, allowing for different perspectives and ideas. While the information shared may not always be accurate or the best path, it is valuable to hear both good and bad ideas as they can guide us towards the right path. Listeners are encouraged to reach out if they want to help someone in their journey. Hello, everybody, and welcome to Our Plan From Here. This is a podcast created by the students of Borough of Manhattan Community College, a part of the City University of New York. And on this show, we are going to try to help students plan their lives by considering the plans of others. My name is Chris Moss, and I'm an adjunct professor here at BMCC. Over the years, I've seen that students come into school with an idea of what they want to do with their lives, but without a real concrete plan for how to accomplish that. In other words, they'll know they want to become a something or other, but they won't know what major it is that they need to join in order to become that, or what type of internships and prerequisites will be required in order to follow that path. And so my hope is that with this show, we'll be able to give students a better vision of what other people are thinking and what they've learned from doing their research in the hopes that people will be able to create a better idea for themselves. This show is going to follow the general format of two students interviewing each other about their lives. This show was created as an optional assignment for my public speaking class, in which I asked students to create something that would help future generations understand the paths that people had taken before them. And subsequently, students are tasked to interview each other with the direction of considering who they are, what they want to accomplish, and how they're going to go about accomplishing those goals. How they go about answering those questions and the conversations that arrive from them, that's completely up to them. That is going to be something that they choose, something that is wholly organic, and that I'm going to really try to avoid editing to any serious degree. This is supposed to be a show for students and by students that I am simply facilitating in the production. Now what that does mean is that some of the information shared here won't be accurate. It might not be the best path, it might not be the best idea, but it is where students are currently headed. And I think that's valuable. I think it's valuable for people to hear the bad ideas as well as the good that other people have. Sometimes we start in a place where we don't really want to end up, but it helps guide us towards the right path. So with that in mind, please enjoy the stories, the discussions, the conversations that people are going to have about their future, about their goals and their dreams. And if you're ever interested in helping someone, please feel free to reach out. You can reach me at CMOS underscore BMCC at Outlook.com. That is C-M-O-S-S underscore B-M-C-C at Outlook.com.
