Real estate agent Pauline Crane shares popular ideas for kitchen islands: closed and open storage, microwave drawer, waterfall countertop edges, open seating area, drawer storage, butcher block, and fun tile. These features add functionality, style, and storage to the kitchen. Pauline is available to provide information on properties in the area. Welcome to Real Estate Tips. My name is Pauline Crane. I'm a real estate agent with Keller Williams of the Treasure Coast. Today I thought we'd talk about kitchens, in particular, kitchen islands. A kitchen island is a popular feature among homeowners, however, choosing the features to include in a kitchen island requires planning. Here are a few popular ideas. Number one, kitchen island, closed and open storage. This gives an open space with shelving where cookbooks and other items are stored. Plenty of storage is always important. Number two, microwave drawer. The idea to place a microwave drawer on the end of the island is about usability and easy access without taking up prime cabinetry space. Number three, a waterfall countertop edges. A stunning quartz or granite and waterfall edge can turn a utilitarian island into a designer showstopper. Number four, open seating area. With a large extended island, there is room for seating and plenty of gathering space around for everyone. Number five, a drawer storage. Having plenty of storage is important to the homeowner. One idea is to design an island to accommodate extra storage along the front and at the ends. This designates a drop zone area. Number six, butchertop, butcher block. With most granite and quartz countertop materials, there would be a seam in the island. With a butcher countertop, you avoid a seam. Number seven, fun tile. Placing tile on the island provides color and graphic pattern in the homeowner's favorite colors. Placing a tile on the island is also a cost-effective way to add style and interest without adding visual clutter to the space. I hope you enjoyed these tips. My name is Pauline Crane. I'm a resident, homeowner, and real estate agent on the Treasure Coast. I look forward to hearing from you. Let me know if you would like information on any properties in the area. Thanks for watching.
