In the first episode of the Phelan Times Fantasy Football Podcast, the host, Philip White, recaps week two of the fantasy football league. He talks about his own victory and highlights the top and bottom point scores of the week. He also discusses waiver wire activity and previews the week three matchups. Additionally, he provides a brief history of the Blue Man Group fantasy football league, starting with the 2012 season. Welcome to the very first episode of the Phelan Times Fantasy Football Podcast. My name is Philip White. I'll be your host this evening and every evening for at least 18 more weeks, I'll come to you live with, well not live, but I'll come to you with a recap of this past fantasy week, a little history for the Blue Man Group, my top tier wars and bottom tier wars, and whatever else I want to talk about to fill this 30 minutes that I'm obligated to do by being bad at fantasy football. So today, let's talk about what happened in week two of the fantasy football league, especially what happened in the Blue Man Group. I can tell you I did win in fantasy football last week, it was a very triumphant victory, I don't want to brag, but Brian Robinson, pretty good actually. Everyone laughed when I took him two years in a row, but what did he do last week? Put up 27.9 points against a stout Denver defense. That's not new y'all, if you want to trade for him, you better get on the wagon right now. Alright, so what we're going to do right now is kind of talk about what the top point score last week, as well as the bottom point score last week. So let's go to the scoreboard of week two. Our Mountain Dew, do who do the most award, is going to go to no other than Armando, with a score of 148.82 points put up in his week two matchup against Broccoli Rob, otherwise known as Daniel Salmonin. Armando's team was led by the heroic efforts of DeAndre Swift putting up 26.6 points, Jalen Hertz putting up 25.22, as well as that Dallas defense, Astalwart, putting up 16 points this past week. Armando, congratulations, you are the Mountain Dew, do who do the most. Well, like the law and physics, for every one thing, there's something else, the something else here is bad. The least point score this week is going to go to Milchek. We have the somehow people who get to have two owners of Allen and Drew put up a score of 93.38 this past week, and they lost to, who else, Drew Keller. Well, Corey Stone as Drew Keller. Identity theft is not a joke, but apparently in this league, it is. Now, the Milchek team was brought down by Breece Hall putting up 0.9 points, as well as Najee Harris putting up 4.8, Kendrick Bourne putting up 4.9, AJ Brown putting up 4.9, and carried by the Green Bay defense putting up 0.0. Those are Listerine Lease Valuable Production of the Week. Once again, those aren't official licenses, and that is a car going off behind me because I live in the city, and that's another car going off behind me because we live in a bad neighborhood. All right, that's a quick recap of the highs and lows of this past week. Now, let's get into a next segment, which is going to be looking at that dreaded waiver wire. I have in front of me the offers reports from this past week that came out this morning at 11 o'clock a.m., and someone dropped 50 points, or dollars, or yen, or whatever we use in this league, someone dropped 50 of it on Justice Hill, and who was that? None other than Drew Keller, and by that, I mean Corey Stone. 50 points for Justice Hill, and a report came in today, this is Wednesday, September 20th, that he did not practice and is dealing with turf toe. I guess that means his career is over, and that was 50 points well spent. Second highest point tally was Leigh Cousin's Danger Robe by Aaron for 27 points for Kareem Hunt, followed by 15 for Tank Dell, and then Joshua Kelly was dropped, and now Austin Eckler may be out, so now let's all spend a lot of money on Joshua Kelly. That's the offers report from this past week. All right, now let's get into week three match-ups, so the first one we have on our slate is going to be a clash of the titans themselves. We have Turner, the White Lobster, at 2-0 right now, versus Weldon, the Kicker Swansong at 1-1. The man loves kickers, he can't get rid of them, and now those two are going at it this week. The second match-up we have is we have the dynamic duo of Allen and Drew versus 2-0 Armando. If you remember our earlier segment about the players who scored the most and least last week in a crazy tournament event, those two teams are playing this weekend. We have the 2-0 Bad Hombres versus the 0-2 Milchak. Guys, I know it's early, but I heard from the press this week that Allen and Drew told their team they really need to win this one. All right, next up we have at 2-0, Spencer's Dingo Babies, and at 1-1, Scrantonicity 2, Reggie Hale's team. Those two are going at it, and those two people hate each other, so be on the lookout for that match-up. We also have sweet, sweet victory, the former champ himself, I don't know, I feel like he's won it almost every year, except recently, but he won it a lot before. Jonathan Slusser at 0-2, going against, who else, Drew Keller, and by Drew Keller, I mean Corey Stone, sitting at 2-0. Corey Stone sitting at 2-0 with no running back for David Montgomery, Justice Hill, who also is hurt today, and no, he's got Alexander Mattinson, and as of today, September 20th, Cam Akers is in that backfield as well, so it'll be interesting to see what happens in the running backs of that room this weekend for the Drew Kellers. Our final match-up this week is going to be two old rivals, two alphas, if I will, Broccoli Robb and Daniel Salmonen, versus Vandalay Industries and your host, Phillip White. Broccoli Robb sitting at 0-2, and Vandalay Industries sitting at 1-1. You may have heard they won last week, it was an epic win, but nevertheless, throw the record books out the window, these two old rivals are going to go at it this weekend. So those are our match-ups this week, these teams who all hate each other, they have to, they're all competing this week, and so we'll see what happens, and I'll give a recap next week about how those match-ups went. Alright, one thing I want to make sure we do every week is go through the history of the Blue Man Group, and for that, we've got to go back to the beginning. Our first year that I can find here on the SBN, if I am way off, please let me know. I feel like there was a Yahoo year one year, but that's a lot of work that I cannot do right now. So, the first year I'm going to go back to is the 2012 Fantasy Football season. Now, here are the lists of people in the league at that time, it's all pretty much the same, they'll say one name that's a little different, I think you'll recognize it. Alright, we had Slush Puppies, Jonathan Slusser, Save-A-Horse, Start-A-Cowboy, Spencer Binkendorfer, Bananas for Foster, Josh, The Rebel Alliance, your host, that was my team, Gotham Rose, Reggie Hale, Chicken Noodle Soup, I think that's a joke on Ndamukong Su, had to be Daniel Salmon, that's who we got, Skittles, Taste, Dwayne Bowe, that was Alan Morgenstein, Under New Management, Aaron Burks, College Station Veins, Corey Stone, and the man brings me down, the one and only, David Farrell. For those of you who don't remember, David Farrell was a real person, and he did actually play this game for this year. I don't know if this is the first year, now that I think about it, because I feel like David was in more, and I have not gone to 2013 yet, but I'm going to say it's the first year. Alright, so, we have, those are the people who were in the league with us at that time, the winner of that year's Fancy Football Championship was none other than Slush Puppy's Jonathan Slusser. Now, Jonathan Slusser's team that year was a stalwart of, hey, remember that guy? He was really good. Quarterback, Colin Kaepernick, and Ben Roethlisberger. We also had running backs, La'Shawn McCoy, Jamal Charles, No'Shawn Moreno, and Matt Forte, and Ryan Grant, and Ryan Grant. At receivers, the man had Brandon Marshall, Demarius Thomas, rest in peace? Yeah, no, I mean, very sad, rest in peace, Antonio Brown. He also had Greg Jennings and Brian Hartline. At tight end, Aaron Hernandez, not going to say rest in peace, don't think he really deserves it, that is my hot take of the week, and color commentator Greg Olson. Quick Greg Olson story, if you're not familiar with the seventh floor crew at Miami, I recommend you Google it, actually, go incognito, and then Google it. I'll tell you right now, him and his crew at the Miami football team had a rap group, and they were called the seventh floor crew, and all they would do was film music videos about how many women they were slaying. It is wild that this man is now the number one color commentator for Fox. I think he's good. It is just a really funny thing that you can find pretty easily about him being 18 and just bragging about everything he's doing at the University of Miami on those awesome teams. His defense was the Bears defense that year, and backup was the Bills, and kicker, Steven Gokowski. So, that was the championship winning team from the 2012 season. I mean, there's some studs on that team. Brandon Marshall averaged 17.3 points, Demaryius Thomas, 15.3, the running backs I mentioned, Shady McCoy, Jamal Charles, NoShaw Moreno, and Matt Forte as well. That's a pretty stout team that won in the championship against Spence, 270 to 222. Great win from Mr. Slessor in that first year of the Blue Man Group. And the person who finished last that season was the College Station Banes, Corey Stone himself. I believe Corey Stone would have to blue himself. Actually, was that the punishment back then? I know it became at some point the punishment. That is a dog trying to open this door right now. The door is closed, sir. The recording light is on. Please back it up. Yeah, we must have started right away, because we would have gone Blue Man Group. Well, either way, Corey Stone finished last that very first year, and we had Jonathan Slessor winning the championship. Every week, I'll go through the next year of what happened, so we'll talk about 2013, the next year, and go from there. I'll tell you right now, I may have finished last in 2013, but it's really tough to find the stats on that, so we'll have to wait and see. All right, guys. One thing I want to bring to y'all's attention every week is a funny bit of audio. Like I mentioned the teaser episode, I'm obsessed with the ticket. For those of you who've heard it in Dallas, you may know it pretty well, and if you don't know it, you've probably heard me reference it once or twice. One thing I love about the show is that they just bring up funny, funny bits of history, and by history, I mean dumb audio. Now, the one I want to present for y'all today is a clip of O.J. Simpson. For those of you who don't know, O.J. Simpson was a Hall of Famer running back for the Buffalo Bills. He also won a Heisman at USC. I think we all know what he's most known for, being in the naked gun, but he just had a slip up and may be killed two people, neither here nor there. The point is that O.J., if you're familiar with O.J. as well, you know that he once released a book. I didn't do it, but if I did, not really a confession. He made it very legally clear that it wasn't a confession, but as close as you can get. The funny thing about O.J., no one's really ever said that, but the funny thing about O.J. is that at one point, he was on a internet show with a former ticket employee. If you know the ticket, you know that P1s are people who are fans of the show. They're called P1s because you'd put a preset one on your radio dial. P1s found out about O.J. hosting, being on this show, and this show took calls. So P1s did what they do, harass and call and talk to O.J. So here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to play this audio for y'all. It goes about three to four minutes. I think it's hilarious. I'm going to play it through. I may stop and pause here and there, but if not, sit back and listen. The boys, the morning musers from the ticket, kind of set the scene pretty well, and they will explain kind of what's going on, and you can hear it. But even before it was thrown in the pokey, you know, he was doing a little bit more interviews and stuff, but back when she got him, this was like huge, and he was endorsing some product, the QCAD or something, and so she had him on, but O.J. endorsing a product on an internet web show, and they decide, well, it's going to be, it's a good idea to just have open lines, open fire, open fire, open lines, calls. We're going to take calls. You don't have to ask O.J. about technology. You can just ask O.J. How did he agree to do this? I will never know. I have no idea. That should have been stipulation number one. I'm not taking calls, and I'm not going to answer your questions about the fact that I killed my ex-wife. So they start taking calls, and right out of the gate, the feeding frenzy started, and a lot of it was P1s who got wind of this thing and started calling in and pranking O.J. Now, there's four prank calls that we have here, and we can analyze them after each one. Here's Kate Delaney and O.J. Simpson from eight years ago. Guys, let's go to Kevin, I believe, in New Jersey. Kevin, what's your question for O.J.? Kevin, what's your question for O.J.? Hi, it's J.D. My kid Chris was wondering, do you think it was a bigger feat to break 2,000 yards in one season, or slice two necks in one night? I'm having a little trouble, Kevin, hearing you. Um, I... All right, Alan's in the studio. Oh, my God. He heard you perfectly. Yes, of course he did. Heard every word of it. And it's so funny that the guys are, they're following prank call etiquette perfectly. Lure them in with a compliment. Hey, O.J., great show, great show. Love this whole web technology stuff. Yeah, this is great. And that's the story with a little story about you and your kid. Yeah. Having some innocent sports talk fun. And ask O.J. what's his most impressive record. Wow. All right, next one. Listening to us in Ohio. Hey, Alex. Yes. Hey, Alex. Hey, how you doing? Not bad. Good. Good, can you hear me, J.D.? Yes, I can hear you, buddy. Yeah, I was wondering if you'd take those 49ers? Yeah. Yeah, did you kill Bill Walsh? Uh, this is... That's what we've been imitating and bringing all day today. Bill Walsh, who very clearly died of natural causes. He was not murdered. Did you kill Bill Walsh? And O.J. just keeps telling me he can't hear anybody. I'm having a hard time hearing. And there's no rhythm to the show here at all. I mean, there's stop and stutter and starting and... I just can't get it on the same page. Here's the next prank call. Uh-oh. Don't forget to back it up just a tad or we can hear it. Hold on. Oh, God. This is, uh, last I watch. Really? What'd you say? The 49ers? Yeah. Yeah, did you kill Bill Walsh? Uh, this is Steve from... Steve! How you doing? Not too bad, Steve. All right. It was reported back during the famous cheat, you know, that went on in Iowa. Yes. It was reported on CBS 3 here in, uh, Philadelphia. That, uh, Larry Mendte, that you were squeezing your helmet. That I was what? Hey, how are you squeezing his helmet? What does that mean? Is that a news show? Yeah, I think so. Yeah. That he was in the back of the Bronco doing that during the chase. What a very odd reaction to these charges that he was facing. They were all so serious. All right, here's the next one. Dylan! What's up, man? Hey, OJ, I, you know, I had a question for you, you know, with everything that, that Michael Vick has been going through and being indicted. I was just wondering if you wanted to meet me on the Jersey Shore to do a lot... Oh, there we go. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But that's the great thing is... Well, uh, uh... No, I don't mind. I mean... Yeah. You know, people can say what they think. If they, if it's negative or what, as long as they're serious about the question they're asking, it's easier to tell a joke, but it don't bother me. Okay, now. Well, that's the great thing about what they're doing. Yeah. She declared that that was the great thing about what they were doing. You're gonna get jokers, but that's the great thing about it. It was great. Do you remember when you played for the 49ers? Yes. Did you kill Bill Walsh? Guys, I don't know what it is about that audio, but it always makes you laugh. Just the idea that you have a man who has been through the ringer, been through trial, and he is answering these questions from prank callers from just dumb people who like listen to the radio and are just prank calling OJ Simpson. That dog is coming back in here. That is his feet you hear right now. We are gonna take a little break. Alright. Well, as most of you know, I am a Dallas Cowboys fan. I know a good chunk of you are also Cowboys fans. There's some Texans fans in there. There's a Lions fan in there as well. Can't really talk all about that. Don't know why they're still teams, but the Dallas Cowboys, now that's a team. The Cowboys are now sitting 2-0 after two dominant wins against the New York teams. Beating the Giants 40-0 on opening Sunday night and then winning 30-10 against the Aaron Rogerless New York Jets 30-10 this past week. Now, those two teams are definitely a step below than their preseason projections. We all kind of thought the Giants may have a step back after their playoff berth and win against the Vikings last year. And the Jets are just the Jets. It's very disappointing to be a Jets fan right now. It has to be after waiting, after slussing through all the bad quarterbacks time and time again to get Aaron Rogers and have everything just snapped in the blink of an eye last Monday night or two Monday nights ago. Also, have y'all seen the weird thing about the last three Monday night games have been Damar Hamlin almost dying on the field, Aaron Rogers snapping his leg, and Chubb snapping his leg as well. I mean, I'm not saying there's, I'm not putting a tinfoil hat on. I'm just saying maybe just avoid Monday night football for a while and don't subject us to watch Kenny Pickett versus Sean Watson in the future. Either way, the Cowboys have beaten two far less opponents this past two weeks, and they're looking very, very good. Now, they haven't really played a dominant offense yet, and they won't play it for a while. They're playing the Cardinals next week. The week after that, they play the New England Patriots, who are better under a coach who can actually coach offense in Bill O'Brien versus Matt Patricia, which is still the craziest thing, that the New England Patriots brought in Matt Patricia to be their OC, a man who had never been an offensive coordinator, and the offense looked like it last year. Now, they're actually playing a little better. Matt Jones can actually throw the ball a little bit. Armandre Stevenson is getting his touches, and the kind of concern everyone had for him going in about Zeke taking those touches has been nonexistent, except in week one, which is weird, when they kept feeding screen balls to him, which, as you Cowboy fans know, he has terrible in-screen packages. The week after that Patriots game, that Sunday, I believe it's October 8th, they will travel to San Francisco and play the 49ers in Sunday night football. Right now, that line is San Francisco minus three. If you don't know, Vegas gives the home team initially three points. All that to say, if they were playing in a neutral site field, let's say they play in Houston for whatever reason, that game would be even in Vegas' odds. So, because it's in France, they are the favorites going in, but that will be their first true test. After that, they play the Los Angeles Chargers, a great offense, which I also saw the stat today that they are the first team to be 0-2, having scored 50 points through two weeks, and have no giveaways. They have not thrown a pick or lost a fumble. They put up 50 points through two games, and somehow they are 0-2. Brandon Staley is a terrible coach, he's got to go. Kellen Moore is doing his job with the offense, that is a wild thing to see, and it must not be fun to be a Chargers fan, all 13 of them. But, as a Cowboy fan, I'm pretty happy where we are right now. Things will always get worse, as they always do for the Cowboys, but guys, I think it's okay to breathe and just enjoy the moment, and let's just beat Arizona. That line right now is 12 points, it's in Arizona. 12 points is a lot of points in the NFL. I think it was last year when that line against the Texans, against the Cowboys, was 15. If you remember that game, the Texans should have won and lost on the last-second touchdown from, I think Dak ran it in, I want to say. But, 12 points is a lot of points. I'm going to go into some betting lines I like here in a little bit. I would stay away from that one, unless you do what my friend does, which he bets against A&M in every game. So, if he covers, great, he made some money. If he loses, that's okay, because A&M won. It's sick, it's a very sicko-mode behavior, but why not? If it works, it works. Okay, guys, now we're going to the part of the podcast where I talk about certain betting lines I like in the NFL this week. I am not a professional handicapper. I'm just someone who wastes a lot of time and a little bit of money betting, and I enjoy it. I find it's a good way just to kill time, and it makes every game way more stressful than it should be. Isn't that what you want on a nice little Sunday after you come from church? Just be really stressed out about a possible Bengals-Rams game. Alright, so some lines that stick out this week in the NFL Week 3. Right now, the Green Bay Packers are two-point favorites against the Saints at home. Saints, for the first two weeks of the year, have not looked very good on offense. I mean, Derek Carr is who he's always been. Their defense has been good, but they played Tennessee, and they played the Carolina Panthers. Now they're going to Green Bay. Green Bay lost a game to Atlanta last week, but they lost that game without Aaron Jones. They lost that game without Christian Watson. Right now, Watson and Jones are on track to play. Christian Watson has not played once this year, and Jordan Love is still QB2 in fantasy football. Imagine what he's going to do with a healthy Aaron Jones, catching the ball in the backfield, and a Christian Watson who can tear the field apart. That line right now is at two points to Green Bay. I think that line could shift to 2.5 or 3 as the game gets closer. I don't think the Saints are that good, but take it what you will. I like Green Bay minus two. Any other lines this week I think are interesting? Vikings and Chargers right now. Chargers at Vikings. That line is even, so it's a pick-em. You can choose whichever one you want. It's an even, pick-em, money line. I don't want to touch that game. Those are just two offenses, and two teams are kind of a mess. I would stay away from that one. Maybe find some player prompts that could look good, but that one would be best to leave alone. We've got Chiefs minus 12.5 against the Bears. The Bears are bad. Their defensive coordinator just did not come back to the team. Justin Fields, if you saw the news this week, had a comment in a press conference. It was taken a little out of context, but the comment effectively came down to him saying that it could be the coaching, the reason why he's not playing well. I don't know if you saw that play against Tampa Bay this last week, where he had a tight end open in the middle of the seam, held onto it, held onto it, and then ran for a one-yard loss. I don't think that was necessarily the coaching, but who knows. If Burrow plays, Bengals minus 2.5 at home against the Rams. Burrow has that calf injury. That line is so low because he's been so banged up. Burrow is a gamer, though, guys. If he is healthy, you've got to like that line. The Rams are playing much, much better than anyone thought they would going into the season, but at the end of the day, they are still the Rams, a pretty beat-up team, and a defense that has been being slashed left and right. If Burrow is healthy, that line may jump up to 3.5 or higher. Call me crazy, guys. Eagles are a five-point favorite on the road in Tampa Bay. That Tampa Bay defense is still a pretty good defense. The Eagles, for the first two weeks of the year, have looked kind of a mess. They squeaked by in a game against New England, a game that if Bill Belichick kicks a field goal with five minutes left, they have a chance to win it with a field goal versus going for the fourth down. They could have lost to New England that week. They could have lost to Minnesota last week. I think the Eagles are a little post-Super Bowl hangover right now and are just not in a great way. They're playing on Monday night in Tampa Bay. That team is 2-0. The players seem to like Baker. I went to OU for law school, but Baker can rile some people up. Right now, the Bucs are in a good way. I'm not saying they're going to win, but I'm saying the five points is a lot of points for a team on the road that has not looked as dominant as they were last year. Those are the lines that stick out to me this week. If you want to take Tennessee plus 3.5 going to Cleveland, that one I don't hate. I think Cleveland is a dumpster fire. Deshaun Watson is trash. That team is just a mess right now. But it's at home. Who knows? They beat up on a pretty decent, we think decent, Cincinnati team, but they're 0-2 as well. So who knows how Cleveland is, how good they actually are. Another line that kind of sticks out. Detroit getting three points at home against Atlanta. It would be interesting to see Atlanta play a pretty stud offense. They played Carolina in week one. They played Green Bay in week two without Aaron Jones and without Christian Watson. If they don't play for Detroit this weekend, they will go up against a good offense. Let's see what that defense can do. Those are the lines I think are kind of interesting this week. Every week I'll try to find more interesting lines and prop bets maybe I can find early on in the week. If you don't know, a prop bet is simply a receiving yard or a rushing yard for certain players. Those are just a lot of fun because you already care that much about them for fantasy football. Why not try to see if you can make some money off them as well when you do prop bets. Well guys, we're coming towards the end of our show. I want to thank you for listening to the very first episode of the Fill in Time podcast. I can tell you, 30 minutes is a long time to fill. Happy to do it though, mostly because I have to, but I'm happy to do it and I hope that you've enjoyed some of this content today. As you know, this is my first time doing this, so if you have any suggestions, don't say, be better at podcasting, I just can't do that. There are some things I won't do. But if you have suggestions on, hey I have a good idea for a segment, I want to talk about this, please let me know. You all have my number, you can always email me, always text me, always call and give me an idea of something you'd like to hear on this show. Alright guys, well take the advice I gave you or don't, enjoy fantasy football this week. It really makes everything so much fun and life so much more stressful. I believe in all of you, you're all champions. And remember, your horn is yours to guide.
