The speaker welcomes the audience and expresses gratitude for the opportunity to share knowledge on the importance of meditating on God's Word. They emphasize that asking questions and seeking understanding is a sign of spiritual growth. They then refer to Genesis 24:63, where Isaac is mentioned as the first person to meditate in the Bible. The speaker explains that meditation is a biblical practice and necessary for spiritual development. They provide examples from the lives of Isaac and Abraham, highlighting the connection between prayer and meditation. The speaker emphasizes that meditation allows the Word of God to be solidified in our hearts, enabling us to speak it and live it out. They cite Joshua 1:8 and Psalm 1:2 to further support the importance of meditating on the Word day and night. The speaker concludes by stating that reading the Bible without meditation is ineffective and encourages the audience to make time for daily meditation on God's Word. I praise the Lord. I welcome you to this wonderful moment. We thank God Almighty for the past few weeks the Lord has been blessing us, communicating to us the importance of His Word. And I want to believe that we have been getting blessed and the Lord has been increasing us in knowledge of His Word. And the time we want to spend shortly, the teaching we'll be having this moment is in response to some questions that have been asked. And my prayer is that you will come to the understanding of God's truth in Jesus' name. And that is why I always find time to bring answers to our questions because those that are asking questions, it is a sign that they are following and it is a sign that they are growing in grace and they are developing. Because when you are developing spiritually, you tend to ask questions. So it is my delight to always come here to impact to you spiritual knowledge. So shall we bow our heads for prayers? Father, we thank you for always blessing our lives. We thank you for this moment. We thank you because we know what you want to communicate to us is the reality of your Word. We thank you because we know you are about to give us knowledge that will bring your people unto deliverance and that will strengthen their Christian life and work with you. We ask of you, Holy Spirit, that this moment bless our lives in Jesus' name. And Lord, open our eyes to the pages of your Word so that they can come to the knowledge of the truth in the name of Jesus. We thank you, Father, because you are faithful. For in Jesus' mighty name I pray. Let us go quickly to the book of Genesis. Genesis chapter 24, verse 63. Genesis 24. I'll be sharing with you on how to meditate on the Word of God. How to meditate on the Word of God. I thank God so much because some of you have been seeing the signs that you are growing spiritually and the Lord has been blessing us over the year through this platform. So, Genesis chapter 24, verse 63. The Bible says, And Isaac went out to meditate in the field at the evening tide, and he lifted up his eyes and saw and behold, the comments were coming. This is the first time in the Scripture, in the Word of God, where the word meditate appeared. The first time that the word meditate appeared in the Word of God is in Genesis 24, verse 63. And we see that it was a practice of the Old Testament saints. They often find time to meditate. So, we are seeing over here that Isaac excused himself from others and he was allowed to meditate. So, while we are talking about the meditation of the Word, we are also setting biblical foundation and biblical conviction that meditation is scriptural. Sometimes when you use the word meditation, people often think of these other religions that use it in their own practices. No, meditation is scriptural. Meditation is biblical and every spiritual believer must have a time to meditate, to meditate on the Word of God. So, Genesis 24, verse 63. We have seen here that Isaac was the first person recorded in Scripture where the word meditate was used. And Isaac was a man of meditation, of course. We can say that Isaac copied that from his father Abraham. So, you often see that Abraham was alone with God. You see, if you understand the place of altar, because Abraham was a man of altar, anyone that has altar, one of the things you use in servicing your altar is not only the killing of animals, you also service your altar with meditation. So, you service your altar with meditation. May I even make it clear to you that one of the advantages of prayer is that while you are praying, prayer goes with meditation. Prayer goes with meditation. So, if you are asking God for something or you are praying about something, you discover that it is both your mind and your mouth that pray together. It is both your mind and your mouth that pray together. So, prayer is the act of meditation also. As you are praying, you are meditating. That is what makes you to get connected to the Spirit. So, meditation is the practice of the saints, is scriptural. And if you are a believer who is not giving himself or herself to meditation, there will be deficiency in your life. Let me say this, although we are still coming to the topic. You see, you can't be a strong prayer person without meditation. Even if you are speaking in tongues, your speaking in tongues will go with the understanding of your mind. That is why when we are praying, we imagine. We imagine what we are praying about. When you are saying, Holy Ghost fire, when you are praying and contending on spiritual warfare, your mind begins to produce the picture of it. So, prayer goes with meditation. Prayer goes with what? With meditation. In Joshua chapter 1 verse 8, Joshua chapter 1 verse 8, the Bible says, This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth, but thou shalt meditate day and night. You see, Joshua, God told Joshua, the book should not depart from thy mouth. But for the book of the law not to depart from the mouth of Joshua, it means that the book of the law must be in the heart of Joshua. So, how does it, how can we make the book of the law to remain in the heart of a person in school meditation? So, God was telling Joshua, He said, This book of the law shall not depart from thy mouth, but thou shalt meditate day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein. For then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. If Joshua didn't meditate on the law day and night, Joshua would not have the word of the law in his mouth. So, God said, The book of the law should not depart from thy mouth. So, what is the secret of it not departing from your mouth? For thou shalt meditate day and night. So, you understand that meditation makes us to be able to speak the law of God. Whatsoever you don't meditate cannot be in your mind. And from the abundance of the mind of the heart, the mouth speak. So, if the law is in your mind, is in your heart, the mouth will say it. So, the secret of speaking the word is through meditating on the word. Because through meditation, the word of God is solidified in our heart. I repeat, through meditation, the word of God is solidified in our heart. We don't understand the word of God because we just read it alone. The word of God is concrete in our heart through meditation. So, God told Joshua that this book of the law should not depart from thy mouth. But Joshua, this is the secret of you having it in your mouth. You must meditate it in your heart. So, the meditation of the heart on the word of God is what empower the mouth to speak out the word of God. And you see, meditation is also connected to obedience that thou mayest observe to do all that is written therein. You cannot observe. The word observe means a conscious involvement, a conscious obedience. How will you be able to consciously obey something when it is not in your mind? So, meditation makes it possible. Quickly, Psalm chapter 1 verse 2. I'm still here to explain to you what is the meaning of meditation. Let me just set the biblical foundation for it. Psalm chapter 1 verse 2. But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in his law doeth he meditate day and night. So, you see that in the Old Testament, it was a compulsory factor for their spiritual encounter. So, you see that God expected every believer to meditate on the word day and night. How do we know? We know by the repetition of the word of God about meditation. Joshua chapter 1 verse 8. You should meditate on it day and night. Psalm chapter 1 verse 2. You should meditate on it day and night. So, the meditation of the word of God is, it has a vital place in the growth and the spiritual development of believers. If we don't meditate on the word, we can't become like the word. So, it is something you should make time for. Meditation on the word is something you should make time for. It's something you should engage yourself in day and night. You might say you are busy, but spending 30 minutes meditating on the word of God has greater effect. Let me say this, that the reading of the word without the meditation of the word is as though you never read the Bible. So, in case you are the kind of believer that just breathes in to read the Bible and then you breathe out, no, meditation is as though, because meditation is what brings the accreditation that you read the Bible. So, if you read the Bible and you don't meditate, it's as though you never read the Bible. And every one of us must understand this, that one of the sequence, one of the factors for our spiritual growth and development is to engage in meditation. Psalm 63 verse 6. Psalm chapter 63 verse 6. The Bible says, when I remember thee upon my bed and meditate on thee in the ninth washes and meditate on thee. So, you see that the psalmist, you see that the servant of God, the generous of God in the Old Testament, there were people that didn't only pray, there were people that also created time for meditation. So, what is meditation? According to the normal English word you can get from your dictionary, you will be seeing words like this. They define meditation as a means or the act of concentration. The act of concentration. And then you can also see some of them saying that it is the act of contemplation. Contemplation. So, you will see it, concentration, contemplation. And that is what they mean to be meditation. Some of us, we also see that meditation is to have a deep thinking. And I like to use that word, deep thinking about something. But over here, because we are talking about the meditation on the Word of God, we are going to share some things you are going to experience doing meditation. First of all, let us use that definition, the second definition, that meditation is you having a deep thinking about something. So, if we are to narrow it towards the Word of God, we can see that meditation is having a deep thinking on the Word of God. Now, there are some experiences, there are three experiences you are going to experience when you are meditating on the Word. I don't want to make this message to be very long so that you can listen to it over and over and over and over and over again. Now, what are the experiences you are going to have doing meditation? Doing meditation on the Word of God, there are three experiences, or we like to do in the process of meditation, there are three experiences you are going to experience, you are going to have when you are in the act of meditation. Number one, there will be thinking, thinking, thinking. Now, thinking is you engaging your mind. Remember, as a man thinks in his mind, so it is. And one of the implications of thinking is that it brings the renewing of the mind. Because the Bible says in Romans chapter 12 verse 2, it says, And be not be conformed to this world, but be ye be transformed by the renewing of your mind. One of the ways you renew your mind is by meditation on the Word of God. Most people don't understand how the mind is renewed. So, they thought that the renewing of the mind is by them, you know, just, you know, going to church and then something will just happen to them miraculously. No, the meditation of the Word of God, sorry, the renewing of the mind comes by the meditation. One of the ways your mind is renewed is by meditating on the Word of God. So, the Bible says in Romans chapter 12 verse 2, And be not be conformed to this world, but be ye be transformed by the renewing of your mind. When your mind is renewed through meditation, it will bring about transformation. It will bring about transformation. When your mind is renewed through meditation on the Word of God, it will bring about transformation. Your life will begin to transform. That is why I tell you that meditation is something you should create time for. Create time for meditation because it plays part for transformation. You cannot be transformed deeper in Christ or be transformed into the conformity of Christ if you don't engage your mental, you don't engage your mind in meditation. So, meditation brings about the renewing of the mind and that is one thing you must experience doing meditation, thinking. So, thinking is one of the experiences in meditation. So, when you want to meditate, the first thing you do, you think. Number two, memorization. Memorization. I remember in those days, even today in our Sunday schools, we do what we call Bible memorization, memory verse. We call it memory verse. The one we memorize. So, in the process of meditation, there is what we call memorization. Now, most of you don't have the ability of quoting the scripture off hand because you don't engage in meditation. When you are meditating on the word, one thing that also implicates it, that one of the benefits in it is that it brings about memorization. So, you memorize. So, when you are always meditating on the Bible, you will discover that the Bible will be staying in your mind. The Bible will stay in your mind. We call it memorization. So, memorization is another thing that plays during meditation. Are you with me now? For example now, for God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him. Now, that Bible verse can't be quoted because there is memorization. But let me say this, there are times we memorize without meditation. That is why I put memorization as one of the experiences you will experience when you are meditating on the word. If you decide to meditate on the verse of the Bible, you will discover that you will eventually memorize that Bible. Even though you are not able to quote it off hand, like quote it by word to word, you'll be able to say almost the same words there because you have spent a time to think on that word. You have spent a time to memorize that word so that you can come to the next level. What is the next level? The next level or the next experience during meditation is imagination. Imagination. So, number one, thinking. Number two, memorization. Number three is what? Imagination. This is when you start picturing what you are meditating on. You are not picturing it as though it's plain before you. Are you getting me now? So, when you see the word of God and you are meditating on it, it goes many a times with memorization. It goes also with imagination. Are you with me? You start imagining the Bible. You start imagining that chapter. You start imagining that verse as though you are there when it was happening. As though it's coming to pass in your life. As though you are seeing it coming to pass. That is imagination. You carry a picture view of it. Having a mindset, a mind picturing view of what you are meditating on. Imagination. You see how powerful meditation is? So, when we talk about meditation, it's like a big word that people don't understand. In a very simple way, if you want to understand meditation, just add these three things together. Thinking, memorization, and what? Imagination. So, when we talk about meditation, there are contents of meditation which is the experiences. Number one, you think. Number two, you memorize. And then number three, you imagine it. So, there should be imagination. You imagine it happening in your life. And these things are very, very powerful. So, how do you meditate on the word of God? That may be your question. How can I meditate on the word of God? Number one, pick a verse or a verses or pick a chapter of the Bible. You know, you can read the whole chapter of the Bible and get the moral lessons from it. And meditate on the moral lessons. Or pick a verse of the Bible. Or pick verses of the Bible in whichever way you want to do it. Then number two, memorize that verse. When you pick a verse of the Bible, memorize it. Then when you finish memorizing it, try to get the understanding of that verse. You can get the understanding before you memorize. Or you can memorize it before you get the understanding in whichever way. But memorize it. Are you with me? So, memorize what? You memorize it. And then you understand the meaning. Get the meaning of that verse. Try to get the meaning of what he's talking about. Try to get the meaning of what that verse is communicating about. And then the last of it all, imagine it. Now, how do you imagine it? By personalizing it. By personalizing it. God said he has made me the head and not the tail. So, I begin to imagine myself as not the tail again. You see, when you want to make the Word of God to become flesh, you meditate. It is through the process of meditation that the written Word will eventually become the living Word. When you engage meditation of the Word of God, the written Word of God will eventually become the living Word. That is where the Word will become flesh in you. You bring it into reality through meditation. You start imagining it. You start seeing the, you start picturing yourself in the reality of it. Meditation is very powerful. I tell you the truth. You are not just a Christian for a Christian's sake. Engage in meditation. When you are studying the Word, engage in meditation. Now, what are the activities that can help meditation? Because I don't want to take much time. What are the activities that can help meditation? There are just four activities to my own best of knowledge that God has taught me. There are four activities that can help meditation. There are four activities that can help meditation. Number one is studying, studying of the Word. Four activities that can help in meditating on the Word of God. Number one is the studying of the Word, the studying of the Word. So, how do you study the Word of God? It involves the reading and making research. You don't just be a Christian that just reads. No, when we talk about studying, it goes beyond reading. So, you read and you make research about that place, about that chapter, about that verse, about the book of the Bible. So, you read and you make research and in absence of you making research, you'll be comparing verses with verses. You'll be comparing chapters with chapters. You'll be comparing book with book. You read it here, you read it there, here a little, there a little. You are making research. When you are studying the Word by engaging reading and research making, you are in the process of meditation. Because when you are studying the Word of God, your mind goes with it. Imagination goes with it. Memorization goes with it. So, you must study. So, these are the activities that helps in meditating on the Word of God. Number one, studying of the Word of God. When I say studying, do you have studied Bibles? Do you have different translations of the Bibles? Don't just read the Bible with one translation. Use different translations. Have concordance. Have Bible concordance. Then you have studied Bibles. Equip yourself as a watchman or a workman who needs not to be ashamed, but rightly dividing the Word of Truth. Because meditation is acquired in the process of studying. When you are studying the Word of God, it goes alongside with meditation. Number two, activity that can help in meditating on the Word of God is praying. Now, sometimes you carry a verse of the Bible which you have meditated on while studying the Bible. So, you carry that verse and you start praying. Let me use for example, the Bible says, It that dwells in the secret place of the Most High God shall abide, that is Psalm 91, shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. And if you read verse 3, it says, I will not be afraid of the terrors by night, nor the arrows that fly by day. For example, I want to pray with that verse. As I am praying, O God my Father, every arrow by night and arrow by day. Remember that because I have read that verse and I am meditating in prayer, though my mouth is praying, but my mind is processing that verse. Though my mouth is praying, but my mind is processing that verse. That is why scriptural prayer is one of the highest forms of prayer. Because while you are praying, you are meditating. You are coming to understand who is the arrows by day, who are the arrows by night. And then you are engaging in prayer. It makes the prayer so powerful. So, prayer is one of the activities or the instruments that helps in the meditation on the Word of God. Number three is discussion. Discussion. This is where you try to share your idea. You try to share your understanding of that verse of the Bible with friends, or as a pastor with congregation, or as a Sunday school teacher with people. So, when you are sharing it, you are in the process of meditation. Because when you are discussing a verse of the Bible, and you are trying to explain that verse of the Bible, it goes with meditation. You will discover that the more you explain, the more you see. See, most of us pastors, it is when we are explaining a verse of the Bible, we will come to understand it. Not that we understood it before we start teaching it. It is while we were teaching you. That is when we got deeper understanding. So, there were some deep mysteries we said while we were teaching this, that we got to know in that process of teaching. There were times I was teaching you. It was when I was explaining that verse of the Bible to you, that even myself had to collide with the revelation of it. So, the things I explained to you that made you to say, wow, this is a deep revelation. I never knew it before the Bible study. It was in the process of the Word study or the Bible study, that as I was teaching you, my understanding was enlightened. So, discussing a verse of the Bible or discussing a chapter of the Bible will bring the minister, will bring the speaker to a greater, a better understanding of that verse. So, it helps in meditation. It helps in what? Meditation. Then the last of it all is writing it out. Writing. So, when you are studying, it goes with writing, writing down. Sometimes you can write, when you are writing out a verse of the Bible, a chapter of the Bible, writing your understanding about it, it goes with meditation. Eventually, you will see that as you are writing, you are getting deeper understanding of that verse of the Bible. So, meditation is being helped. Our meditation is sharpened through number one, studying, number two, praying, number three, discussing, and then number four, writing, writing the verse or writing about that chapter. So, before we close for this moment, what are the importance of meditation on the Word of God? What are the importance? I will give you seven importance. Seven tested importance. Not importance that you cannot enter. No, importance that even as I am sharing it with you, you will know that these things are truth. What are the importance of meditation on the Word of God? Number one, it brings about memorization. Any man of God or any believer you see that often quotes the Bible offhand, act them very well, they are not far from meditation. It makes you to be able to quote the scripture offhand. So, it brings about number one, memorization. If you are always meditating on the Word of God, you will many a times remember the chapter, the book, the chapter and the verse of that quotation. So, it brings about memorization. Number two, it brings about deeper understanding. It makes you to have deep understanding of that verse. It makes you to have deep understanding of that chapter. It brings about deep understanding. And then number three, it brings about inspiration. It brings about inspiration. It brings about inspiration. When you are meditating on the Word of God, you begin to have inspiration on divine direction. You see, not every time God will come to you in your dream and said, my son, my son, do this, my daughter, my daughter, do that. You see, most of the divine direction we get from God comes from the process of meditation. When you are meditating on the Word of God, you can have an inspiration. Either inspiration to write a song, inspiration to write a psalm or inspiration on divine direction. So, you can receive divine direction. You can capture the voice of God, the Word of God from the place of meditation because meditation produces inspiration. And when there is inspiration, you can collide with the voice of God. You can hear God speaking to you. You can hear the Word of God coming to you. The Word of God will be personalized to you. You can receive an inspiration to produce a song. You begin to receive inspiration to write a psalm. That is the power of meditation. Number four, meditation brings about conviction. Conviction. You cannot have a strong conviction on the Word of God if you don't engage your mind in meditation. Conviction. Conviction. So, when you are studying the Bible and you engage in meditation, it will bring about conviction. Now, when there is conviction, nobody can easily deceive you. If you are convict about a verse of the Bible, nobody can deceive you that it doesn't matter. I have a conviction that whosoever commits sin is not of God, is going to hell. So, there is no pastor that can come to me to tell me that whosoever commits sin will still go to heaven. No, because I have built conviction on the Word through meditation. I meditated on it for years and I'm still meditating as I'm reading through the scripture. So, it makes me to have deeper understanding and I have a strong conviction that a sinner will not enter the kingdom of God. So, meditation brings about conviction. Number five, meditation opens your spirit man to God's reality. Meditation opens your spirit man to God's reality. You will not be able to experience the reality of God except through meditation. Let me say this to you, although he's not one of the disciples, let me explain it. You see, you can receive a miracle. You can receive healing and deliverance from God, not necessarily going to church. If you can just sit down and read about how Jesus healed the sick and engage your mind in meditation, suddenly you will see a crippled man will stand up and walk. Meditation has the power to open your spirit to spiritual realities. It has the power to open your spirit man to God's realities. You will discover that when you start meditating, you might even have a encounter with the supernatural power of God. So, it brings about the opening of your spirit man for God to experience God's realities. So, a blind eye can be opened because the mind of that blind man engages in meditation. A deaf ear can be opened because the ears of that deaf man or the mind of that deaf man engages in meditation. So, when you engage your spirit in meditation, you can receive the miracle of God right there. You can receive healing. You can receive financial breakthrough. You can receive financial breakthrough. That is why these witches and wizards and people, the powers of darkness, this agent of darkness, a human form, one of the ways they engage in their spiritual warfare against believers is through the power of meditation. They can leave their body through meditation to attack you where you are staying in America. You may be in America while they are in Nigeria. They will leave their spirit. We have to come out from their body to fight against you in America through the power of meditation. So, when you are meditating, you are opening your spirit for the Holy Ghost to come and carry out a divine work in you which will produce divine realities. Are you getting me now? So, meditation can bring about the, it can open your spirit man to God's realities. That is number five to my question to you. Are you ready to meditate? Number six, ecstasy. Ecstasy. Meditation can bring ecstasy. Meditation on the supernatural of God. Meditation on the angelic. You see, sometimes when you always listen to testimonies of men that have gotten ecstasy with angels, sometimes I do go to my YouTube channel. I will start watching their encounters with angels. When you start engaging in that and then your consciousness has been captured into that way, you will discover that in the process of meditation, you will start having angelic realities around you. So, you can have a encounter through meditation. You can have a encounter through meditation. You can have a encounter through meditation. This, the last of it all which is number seven, number seven importance of meditation on the Word of God is obedience. You know, obedience is produced from understanding. Obedience is produced from understanding. So, when you are meditating on the Word of God, you will start continuing your will to obey. Meditation on the Word of God empowers the will of a man to obey the Word of God. So, when you engage in meditation, you eventually end up as an obedient believer because in the process of meditation, many things will start taking place in your life and one of those things is that your will to obey God will be strengthened and your will to disobey sin or to disobey the devil will be strengthened. Your will to deny the flesh will be strengthened through meditation. Meditation empowers your will to obey God and meditation weakens the desire to sin. When you engage in meditation, the desire to sin will be weakened. Read the Bible every day. Meditate on the Word of God day and night just as the Word of God says it. If you can do it for one month, you will never be the same again. Let me say this, most pastors are very busy that they don't have time for meditation. Most choristers are very busy that they don't have time for meditation. Most of us meditate on our problems more than the Word of God. So, the more we meditate on our problems, the more the problem becomes so real to us. The more we meditate on the promises of God, the more the promises of God become so real to us. So, what will you meditate on? I encourage you and I challenge you this morning, please meditate on the Word of God. Meditate on the Word of God. Spend quality time to meditate. When you meditate on the Word of God, the Word of God will become flesh in you. There will be a physical manifestation of the supernatural realities. I believe the Lord is blessing someone already. Yes, I believe you are coming to understanding. So, I'm speaking to you tonight, this morning. Are you willing to meditate? Are you ready to meditate? Will you be setting time out for meditation? Why not stand up on your feet and let us go to the Lord in prayers? Wherever you are, begin to talk to the Lord over there and say, Lord, give me grace to meditate. Empower me, Lord, to meditate. Empower me, O God, to engage myself in meditation. Grant me the grace to engage my mind in meditation. I want to meditate, O God. Open your mouth and begin to pray. The Lord wants us to pray. The Lord wants us to meditate. That is why he's bringing this to us. Let us engage our mind in meditation. Meditating on the Word, night and day. Meditating on the Word, night and day. Meditating on the Word. Shall we pray to the Lord? Lord, help me. Help me to meditate on your Word. Help me to meditate on the Word.
