Script 1. FDA says Coca-Cola's Diet Coke Plus is misbranded. Thursday, December 25, 2008. Reported by Wikinews. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has written a warning letter to the Coca-Cola Company that Diet Coke Plus violates the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act guidelines. The December 10th letter, signed by Roberta Wagner, Director of the Office of Compliance at the Center of Food Safety and Applied Nutrition, says Coca-Cola should take prompt action to correct these violations. The product's label describes the drink as Diet Coke with vitamins and minerals. FDA said the soft drink does not have enough nutrients to justify the word plus in its trade name. According to the statute, foods must contain at least 10% more of the reference daily intake, RDI, or daily reference value, DRV, for a given nutrient than an appropriate reference food in order to be called plus legally. Script 2. The Great Oxygenation Event, GOE, was a time interval during the early Earth's protozeroic era when the Earth's atmosphere and the shallow ocean first experienced a rise in the concentration of oxygen. Geological, isotopic, and chemical evidence suggests that the biologically produced molecular oxygen, dioxygen, or O2, started to accumulate in Earth's atmosphere approximately 2.5 billion years ago. Previously, the atmosphere did not contain enough oxygen gas to sustain aerobic respiration. Script 3. Oh, well played, sir, well played, Myra exclaimed enthusiastically, clapping her hands. Who is he, Jimmy, she added, turning to her escort, who was also applauding. Do you know him? I was introduced to him at a dinner at the Spanish Legation the other evening, her friend answered. He's governor of a province, or something of the sort, in Spain, and a most interesting chap. Told me he spends most of his time out there hunting brigands and outlaws. He consulted his program. Ah, here we are, Don Carlos de Ruiz. Look, he's on the ball again. Well hit indeed, sir. Script 4. Irving and Terry, always among my close friends, I first met in London, at the McHenry's house in Holland Park. At that time, the McHenry's Sunday night dinners were an institution. Later, when they came to America, I saw a great deal of them. And I remember Ellen Terry saying once, after a luncheon given by me at Delmonico's, what a splendid woman Jeannette Gilder is, you know, and she gave me a rueful glance. I am always wrong about men, but seldom about women. Dear Ellen Terry, she has always been the freshest, the most wholesome, and the most spontaneous personality on the stage. A sweet and candid woman, with a sound, warm heart, and a great genius. At Lady Macmillan's, a number of people, most of them literary, were discussing that deadly, worthy, and respectable actress Madge Robertson, Mrs. Kendall. The mortality of stage people was the subject, and Mrs. Kendall was cited as an example of propriety.
