St. Helens Meat Packers is a large meat processing plant in Toronto that produces high-quality beef products. They focus on producing the highest quality beef by carefully selecting feed ingredients, monitoring animal health, and practicing low-stress handling. They also have a cattle feeding operation that uses regenerative farming practices to maintain soil health and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The farm is environmentally sustainable, as manure is captured and used to improve soil structure and support plant growth. The cattle facilities are designed to provide a stress-free and safe environment for the animals. St. Helens offers premium branded beef programs, including Ontario corn-fed beef, Ontario Heritage Angus beef, and certified Angus beef. St. Helens Meat Packers is Canada's largest vertically integrated beef processing, cattle and crop production operation and are one of the largest family-owned meat establishments in Canada. The meat processing plant, located in the historic Stockyards District of Toronto, Ontario, was established in 1980 and provides over 550 jobs to Ontario workers. St. Helens is renowned for producing high-quality beef products, satisfying customers in the retail, food service and manufacturing sectors around the world. Our focus on quality ensures that all our products are produced to the exact specifications our customers expect. When it comes to producing the highest quality beef, it requires strict attention to details throughout the entire process. Producing the highest quality beef starts in the farm and requires carefully specifying feed ingredients, monitoring animal health, as well as maintaining low-stress handling practices. Our Lucan Feeders cattle feeding operation is certified under the Ontario Corn Fed Beef Quality Assurance Program. The operation is fully self-sufficient and includes over 10,000 acres of feed crop production, which utilizes regenerative farming practices to maintain soil health, maximize carbon sequestration in the soil and reducing the level of greenhouse gas emissions. The cattle in turn produce manure, which enhances the environmental sustainability of the farm. Manure is captured and stored before being spread back on the land. This improves the soil structure so that it holds more nutrients and water. Manure encourages soil microbial activity and contains nitrogen and other nutrients that support plant growth and minimize the need for synthetic fertilizers. Our cattle facilities are specifically designed to consider their natural instincts and behaviors and ensure the cattle are comfortable all year round, providing a stress-free and safe environment for cattle as well as farm employees. Cattle are provided 24 access to high-quality nutritional feed and fresh clean water along with room to roam and socialize throughout the herd. Our feedlot operation works closely with animal nutritionists to ensure the animals receive all the essential nutrients and minerals they require in their ration. When it comes to producing great tasting beef, careful selection of feed ingredients is key. Corn is what gives Ontario corn-fed beef its rich full flavor. It is naturally high in energy and promotes higher levels of marbling than grass feeding alone. Ontario corn-fed beef is internationally recognized for its quality and taste. St. Helen's Meatpackers offers premium branded beef programs to our valued customers around the world, including Ontario corn-fed beef, Ontario Heritage Angus beef, and certified Angus beef.
