Udham Singh, born on 26th December, 1899 in Punjab, is known for assassinating Michael O'Dwyer. He killed O'Dwyer to avenge the Jallianwala Bagh massacre that took place on 13th April 1919. The massacre occurred when people were celebrating Baisakhi and protesting against the arrest of Saifuddin Kitchlew and Dr. Satyapal during the Rowlatt Satyagraha. In Jallianwala Bagh, Reginald Dyer, a British officer, gave orders to open fire on the crowd, resulting in many deaths.
