The speaker discusses the importance of PDHPE (Personal Development, Health and Physical Education) in promoting students' well-being and active lifestyles. They explain that the PDHPE curriculum aims to develop students' knowledge and skills to make informed decisions about their health. The speaker also mentions two important documents, the PDHPE syllabus and the ACARA document, which provide guidelines for teaching PDHPE. They highlight the different expectations for students at different stages and discuss the importance of creating inclusive learning environments. The speaker concludes by reflecting on their own growth as a future PDHPE teacher and the importance of aligning theory with practical teaching strategies. They emphasize that PDHPE is not just about physical activities but also about equipping students for lifelong participation in health and well-being. In today's episode, I will use the name and objectives of PDHPE to discuss the effective teaching method on thinking and approach with other co-tutorials that I have gone through in the past semester. Join me as I explore the value of PDHPE and how it can empower students to lead a healthy and active life. Before getting started with it, it's important to unveil the acronym of the PDHPE, that means Personal Development, Health and Physical Education, which is a quite dense and variable curriculum area that plays a crucial role in holistic development of K-6 students. According to the Australian curriculum ACARA, PDHPE aims to develop students' knowledge, understanding and skills to make informed decisions about their health, well-being and physical activity. It also promotes positive relationships, resilience and the ability to contribute to a healthy and protected society. To guide us through the PDHPE landscape, we have two crucial documents, PDHPE syllabus and the ACARA document. Where the syllabus outlines what students should learn in an eligible school, the ACARA provides the national framework for PDHPE, where the core aim is to develop students' knowledge, skills and attitudes to make informed decisions about their health and physical activity. It strives to promote active and healthy lifestyle for both personal development and personal Whereas the rationale behind this is quite profound and it's all about equipping students with knowledge and skills to reach a lead and fulfilling life. It also recognizes the significance of physical activity, mental health and professional development in their overall well-being. The grand aim of this is to empower students to become informed and responsible members of society that encourages them to actively engage in lifelong physical activity and make positive choices regarding their health and well-being. Dwelling further into the syllabus, their students and teachers are expected based on stages, there are different expectations for all of them. For example, for stage 3 students, it is expected that they demonstrate competencies in fundamental development skills, where teachers aim at providing motivation and creating a positive learning environment. Moving ahead to further stage 5, students explore more complex physical activities and delve into health issues. Here, teachers play a vital role in fostering critical thinking about their health choices, guiding students in setting personal fitness goals, making healthy choices and what not. So, to overshadowing what I have learned through this video by Dr. Yasmin, there are 4 main tutorials that I would like to talk about. Because I had the opportunity to participate in various tutorials that have greatly contributed to my personal and professional development, but I would like to list main 4 tutorials over here. One relates to the cultural importance, the other one relates to health and well-being and one is for gain-sense approach. That goes beyond traditional drills and exercises as it focuses on using games-like activities to develop students' skills and understanding of sports, including game strategies, tactics, rules and other physical activities. According to Spitzel and Byrne, the gain-sense approach focuses on engaging students in decision-making, problem-solving and tactical awareness. This enhances their overall learning experience. Other researches also suggest the use of digital media in primary school PE. For example, Greif and Miller have highlighted the effectiveness of this approach in promoting active participation and enjoyment in physical education. Additionally, this approach promotes the development of personal and social skills, such as teamwork, communication and decision-making, which are essential for students' overall well-being. ...investing physical education experience for their learning. Astutisac early intended to check that these themes align with the holistic nature of physical education while contributing to not only the physical, but also the personal and social growth of a child, echoing the broader goals of the Australian Ph.D. in philology. But how can we ensure that education and learning are designed to promote health outcomes effectively? One approach to adopt to help promoting school-scale work is the Green Book. To incorporate emotional and personal gains into the curriculum, it gives us the opportunity to align and foster the cultural awareness and inclusivity among students. Another one is the Live Life Well at School. This initiative also emphasizes the importance of physical activity in school. Cultural gains provide a unique awareness of the importance of physical activity and physical activity as well as mental health. To foster this positive behavior, it's essential to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment, which can be done by creating differentiation in terms of instructions as discussed in learning tutorials, while ensuring that all students, regardless of their abilities or disabilities, can participate fully. This approach aligns with the principles of inclusion in indigenous and cultural gains. It also demonstrates that physically active children tend to perform better at school. By integrating these themes in the PE, we can actually contribute to the improved results for literacy and literacy overall student success. Delhi also states that these programs make students feel very valued included in physical activities. While adopting schools within PE, we need to ensure that students with disabilities are actively participating alongside their peers, and for that specialized PE teachers need to deliver the high-quality PE instructions, because their expertise needs to be integrated in this area so that students can feel safe and valued, while ensuring that these activities are educational. So that students can have a clear mindset and they feel inclusive and included while learning any new sport. By providing them guidance in the explicit way, how they can be retreated to perform better and know what is being expected from them, and gain the understanding of what students feel confident about and what they want to improve in themselves. Giving them a chance to do a self-reflection on their part and the ones that are in their team members, improve a positive sense of inclusion among students. As to wrap up this semester, I cannot help but to reflect back on the tremendous growth I have done and experienced as a future PDHPE teacher. Through engaging in various learning activities and discussions, I have had acquired a wealth of knowledge and skills that will undoubtedly inform my approach to teaching PDHPE. This subject has emphasized the significance of aligning key theories and content with practical teaching strategies. It has also helped me understand the importance of creating inclusive and supportive learning environments for all students. This semester has highlighted the value of reflective practices in teaching PDHPE. The tutorials and discussions have encouraged me to critically reflect on my own teaching practices and continuously seek opportunities for improvement. I have also learned to integrate research-based evidences and pedagogical approaches in my teaching, ensuring that I provide meaningful and engaging learning experiences for my students. Additionally, this subject has deepened my understanding of PDHPE curriculum and its objectives. I now personally recognize the importance of equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that are necessary for lifelong participation in not only physical activity but the development of relationships and their maintenance of overall health and well-being as well. To close up, I would like to thank you for joining me in this whole journey and in this episode of Friendly HPE World Camp.
